On my Dell E193fpc monitor, the background lighting goes off after a few seconds. The actual Screen-image is still there (can be seen in bright sunlight). How can I get the backlighting to work proper

This sounds as though there might be a problem with the inverter (this is a component that supplies a high voltage for a tube(s) that illuminate the screen. As there are high voltages on inverters, this is really a job for a repair shop.

Have you tried lowering the resolution of your computer? Better yet you can try booting up the pc in safe mode. If that work, then probably the problem is that the monitor does not support high resolution.
You can also check if your video cables are properly inserted to the correct slots. Also check if your video cables are damaged. Thank you.

My flat pc monitor has a punchsure in the screen!

Sorry, there is no fix for a punctured screen. It is amazing that it is still working at all.

It will not keep working for long, I am sorry to say. LCD means Liquid Crystal Display. As the liquids disperse through capillary action, the "hole" in the picture will get larger. Eventually, enough of the microscopic transistors that drive the liquid crystals from light to dark state will fail to cause the entire screen to shut down.

There is no way to tell how long your screen will continue to work.... for all I know, it may have failed when I started typing an answer to your question.... it may last for minutes, days, maybe even weeks.

If you were very lucky and only punctured the outer thin-film protective glass layer, it may keep on working fine. You will be able to tell if this is the case if there is no dark spot in the screen where it got punctured.

Good Luck with it! Sorry the news is not better, but in any case, Thank You for using FixYa!

The glass of the monitor

You have to replace the whole LCD panel assembly, not worth it.
The glass that you broke is the TFT LCD panel.

You can GOOGLE the part number as printed on the back of the LCD panel assembly to see if you can get one for this old monitor.

The power button got stuck and the monitor won't

It may have broken actuator or the arm for the button is now broken, it is very poor design, I cannot locate anyone that sell this assembly yet. You may be out of luck, what I have done is to remove the button and use paper clip to actuate the switch.
