Probably the timer on this is bad?

your unit is off balance or on an unlevel surface stabelize your unit if thats not it check to see if your load is ouneven.

This involves the spin lid switch
Twist timer very fast a few times and stop it on spin with the lid closed. Wiggle the timer to get the points to connect. Even if you
just get a little bump then its the timer.
If none of this works then it is the timer plus maybe something else contributing.
You can tape the two wires to the switch together and it'll work just fine
Also check the plunger on the lid to see if it is not broken off

This is approximately a 3.2- 3.3 cubic foot tub it is about 6 years old and is patterned after Maytag's Magic Chef line. It was a decent unit. They are most prone to loud brake squeak at the end of the spin cycle and somewhat higher than normal transmission failures. Not a bad washer though.

Remove the rear access cover and check if any of the suspension springs is detached from the tub braces and the suspension housing. The suspension springs make the drum centered and prevent an off balance situation that results in vibration and banging of the drum into the outer tub. Reinstall any detached spring then run a cycle to verify the operation of the washer.

Maytag had problems with the berrings on the transmission . water gets in and the berring goes bad rorring as it spins. Dump it and get a Whirlpool.

you need to replace the pump the pump bearings are starting to wear out eventually the washer will not drain

Follow along the seam where the top of the washer meets the front casing. About two to three inches in from each side is a retainer clip. Take a putty knife and push in on the clip while pulling up on the top of the washer and it will release, exposing the screws you will need to remove the washer front. You may need to try two putty knives and an extra set of hands if you run into difficulty. I hope this helps you.

If yours is a top loader it will mounted near the drum inside the machine. It will be a shaped block of concrete curved to sit close the actual drum.
