I was going to use the self cleaning on my maytag
Hi, sorry but you have ended up on the washing machine forum!
May I suggest re-posting? I'm unsure what the forum heading is for ovens.

P.S. We had a similar problem with an oven, sorted by removing and replacing power a few times BUT SLOWLY, maybe 10-15 seconds in-between!
During spin cycle, washer vibrates
It sounds like it is out of balance or not level. First check to make sure your load is distributed evenly.. If the load is even try to level the machine. Some models have self-leveling legs on the back. Try this- with washer in place stand in front of it and tilt it slightly towards you lifting the back off the ground about 2-3 inches. Then set it back down. Try another load. If that doesn't work you may have one of the stabilizing springs that is broken. In that case, you will need to call a repairman.

Is it new? If it is, or if it has been doing this since you got it, the chance is that you never removed the Transport brackets at the back. If it has been removed, try adjusting the feet to the highest possible.
Hope it helps

MY MAYTAG WAS SPINNING BUT
it could be your agitator troubleshoot the following to isolate the problem:
Unplug the washing machine, and turn off the water supply to the machine. If necessary, remove the water hoses from the back of the washing machine because they may be in the way of the access panel.
2
Check that the agitator is seated correctly by opening the lid of the washing machine. If it's loose, pop off the top of the agitator--if there is one--and tighten the bolt that holds the agitator in place. Or, in some models, simply pull straight up and then reseat the agitator.
3
Remove the access panel located in the back of the washing machine by unscrewing the screws holding it in place. This allows access to the drive motor.
4
Press on the drive belt that works the agitator. If the belt moves more than 3/4 inch, tighten the belt to fix the spinner problem. If the belt is worn or cracked, replace the belt.
5
Replace the drive motor, if tightening or replacing the drive belt doesn't fix the agitator. Purchase a new drive motor at a wholesale retailer. Disconnect wiring, remove screws holding motor in place and insert new motor. Screw into place, and connect wiring.
6
Check for any black substance leaking under the washing machine. This might indicate a clutch problem, if the washing machine spinner is not working. Contact a professional repairman to replace the clutch.

when a washer goes into the rinse cycle it only uses cold water,i think you have a problem with your cold water supply and if it happened to two washers it's not the washer.shut down the water valve, remove the cold water hose off the back of the washer, stick it into the washer and turn it back on.if no cold water comes out this will be your problem.
Machine gets off balance during spin cycles. Very
- Open the lid
- Roll the bowl by holding on to the agitator.
- It should feel even and return to the center on its own when you release it from you grip.
- make sure the wash action is correct...that is the agitator works as it should
- If it does not it could be putting the c; clothes to one side in a ball.
- If this is the case then there is a transmission fault unable to be fixed by you.
- If everything is normal spin the machine empty
- If it spins ok empty then add four the same size towels and rinse them so they are heavy wet
- They should be formed evenly around the bowl.
- If there is a problem now the suspension in the machine is faulty and requiter professional service
- Good luck....tony

When in spin cycle there is a grinding noise
Hello,
Here are solution on how to solve the noisy problem.
Although
a noisy washing machine is not typically a sign that something is
broken, it definitely can be annoying. Usually the noise from a washing
machine can be fixed fairly easily, but a few different fixes may need
to be tried before it can be determined what the true culprit of the
noise was.
Instructions what you need to solve this problem.
-
Flashlight,Screwdriver,Drive belt
-
Check
the drum bearings if the washing machine is making a rumbling noise.
The noise may possibly stem from water getting into the bearings. Take
the belt off and spin the drum by hand. If there is a rumble, remove
the bearings and replace them with new ones.
-
Check
the spider at the back of the drum. The spider is the three-armed
device that holds the drum in place. If there is one loud noise on each
revolution of the drum, there is a good chance the spider has partially
become loose. Tighten the bolts on the spider to silence the noise it
causes.
-
Check
for coins. If the noise the washing machine makes sounds like metal on
metal, there is a good chance that some change has slipped from a
pocket and is now in the dryer. Take a flashlight and look in the drum
for coins, paper clips, and other small items.
-
Adjust
the legs. Many washing machines make more noise than they should
because they have not been properly balanced. Re-adjust the legs to
make sure that they are all even. This will keep the washing machine
from moving and will ensure that the noise it creates while it moves
will go away.
-
Replace
the drive belt. Often a high-pitched squeaky noise can come from a
drive belt that has been worn down. Simply replacing the old belt with
a new one will fix this problem.

If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.Replace the lid switch with this part.
Maytag Performa does not rinse well even on second
I had the same problem. It was a buildup of gunk (don't know how else to describe it) in the fabric softner dispenser. I also had a build up of detergent around the upper rim of the basket inside the washer and caught up underneath the agitator. I took my machine apart and scrubbed it all out.
Here is the way to get it cleaned out.
- Remove the fabric softener dispenser from the top of the agitator.
- With a 7/16 socket, remove the bolt inside the agitator.
- Lift the agitator up and out of the basket. This may require a little force.
I use a small putty knife to scrap the buildup then use a rag to wipe the film off.
Make sure to clean the fabric dispenser really well. There are small holes in the bottom of it and if they are clogged up, the fabric softener cannot disperse well and when the machine goes into the spin cycle, it will tend to fling the softener under the rim of the basket where it will buildup over time and leave spots on your clothes.
If you need to know anything further, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Happy Holidays
