Panasonic VIERA TH-65PV500 65 in. Plasma Television - Page 9 Questions & Answers
My panasonic flat screen plasma will
Hi.
This may happen because of a faulty connected device, because of a defective input on TV, or because of a defective HDMI cable.
As first step disconnect TV power cord for ten minutes, so to reset TV, then restart and test the TV with no cable connected.
If this happens only when the recorder is connected, then either the recorder or the HDMI cable is causing the problem.
Pin 14 of the 20 Pins HDMI connector is in fact used to detect if a device is connected and on. If there is a short or a bad contact on pin 14 or on the respective wire, HDMI will keep popping up on TV like if you keep connecting and disconnecting the cable.
If the problem happens with different cables, and with the same DVD unit connected, but does not happen when TV is stand-alone, then the problem is the output from DVD recorder.
If the TV has the problem even with no device connected, or even using different cables, and with any device connected to the HDMI port, then the problem is the terminal board on the TV.
The terminal board is the board that among other function is hosting the Input/Output connectors. The problem is often a loosy solder joint on the HDMI connector pcb, or a faulty connector itself.
In case of TV or recorder failure call the service number listed on Panasonic owners manual, to verify warranty terms or to get a quote on repair.
About the non-Panasonic HDMI cable. As long as the HDMI cable was build and distributed by authorized manufacturer and reseller, this will not affect your warranty status. If I was in your shoes I would not insist on this point with the customer representative if you have to discuss an eventual warranty cover. You risk to get in troubles with warranty validation in case you find an eccessively zealant representative.
Use of other brand's HDMI cables is accepted by manufacturer, and it is quite unlikely that the cable had been causing the fault.
Regards.
Ginko.
Plasma tv picture not coming on and power light flashing
Yes, you have power supply issue.
the power on circuit is malfunctioning and the flashes is the indication that the voltage levels for the power on regulation is not correct therefore shut down to protect the circuit from further damage. You TV unit needs servicing by an plasma TV specialist.
Also check to see if you do not have the TV in sleep or hibernation mode.
I have sound but no
Hi
Thanks
for using FixYa. It could just be a bad cable, try to connect the TV with DVD Player and see if it makes a difference. If not then you’ll need to check the X and Y sustain buffer boards. When
either of these boards goes bad common problems include negative image, no
image, vertical or horizontal stripes on picture, turns on and than turns off,
and many more. You’ll need to open the back off the TV and check for any
swollen/bulged capacitors on these boards and replace whichever has gone bad. If
still the issue is not resolved, then please check the power supply board. All
this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to
solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when
switched off. Please
do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further
assistance.
Thanks

My sony tv wont turn on and the red light blinks...
In the absence of sound and video, it is likely a failure of the main power supply.
This may be a separate board that, if connected with the typical plugin connectors, may be user replaceable.
Look for a smaller board with larger components; some will be block-like (transformers and chokes) others will be cylindrical and mounted at 90 degrees to the board.
If you can locate this, look for part numbers on the board (often on a label).
Call the service center nearest you and inquire about the cost of a new replacement board or repair on yours; using this number for reference is better than your model number alone since these are often purchased from other suppliers and may not be the same from one unit to the next.
There may not be much price difference.
Hello "experts",
My Panasonic Viera TH-50PV600
That's a fairly common indication that a component in the main power supply called an 'electrolytic capacitor' is fading away.
These are used as filters and in feedback paths in switched mode power supplies and one of the parts on which mfr.'s safe a nickel or two. If these parts are not rated for the type of service they perform (higher frequencies and ripple current) they chemically break down and lose value until they no longer can serve their purpose.
If you open the back of the set after allowing a number of hours (overnight is better) with the plug pulled, look for a smaller circuit board with larger than average parts. Some of these will be blocks (transformers and chokes) and it will have cylindrical 'cans' that are mounted 90 degrees to the board.
Look for a part number which may be on a sticker.
If you can find this, contact Panasonic service in your area and ask about repair or replacement cost of this board.
If either causes a faint heart, check on the site below to see if they happen to have this board on hand, it may save some money:

Subassemblies are normally plugged in and won't require soldering to replace.

How can I view my ipod pics on my TV screen
1. OK on your iPod and click
"Videos" from the main menu. Click on "Video Settings" and
then switch the "TV Out" function to "On" by clicking on
it.
Plug the iPod audio video cable input
to the correct iPod plug-in. The cable's input varies from cable to cable but
will either plug into the headphone jack or the power output.
Plug the other end of the audio video
cable into the television's video output. The cable has three audio video
plug-ins colored red, yellow and white. Plug them into the TV's corresponding
inputs.
Turn on the television and change the
input to the same one you plugged the iPod into.
Select the video you'd like to play
on your iPod. The iPod's video and audio will be redirected to your television.
I have a brand new
Using the tuner in the TV I assume?
What type of breakup? Humbars? Flicker? Pixelating? Dropouts? Freezing?
Try this:
Unplug the TV.
Unscrew the cable wire, look at the end of the connector on the wire, make sure there is no metal bit shorting out the copper signal from the metal ground.
Follow that wire back and check all connection points.
Tug on all the ends, they should not be loose, actually they should be so tight you couldn't pull them off if you tried.
Now screw them all back on as tight as you can. (you can even snug them up with pliers).
Connect the cable firmly to the TV, then plug the TV back in.
Let me know how it works,
Cheers!
Kevin
How do I wall mount the 65
You can buy a universal wall mount the will fit on that 65" plasma that comes with all necesary hardware and instructions to mount the TV to the wall. Now that 65" tv is really heavy so it needs good anchors to support the weight of the display.
42"viera TH42PX50U wont turn on just 10 red blinking lights
Based on my research 10 blinking lights means the video controller inside your TV has malfunctioned and needs to be replaced.
Even though Circuit City went out of business Panasonic should still support their product through manufacturers
warranty.
You can contact them at one of the support #'s below
Consumer Electronics
- Technical Support: 1-800-211-7262 (Mon-Fri, 9AM-9PM
EST, Sat-Sun 10AM-7PM EST)
Plasma & Monitors
- Technical Support: 1-888-972-6276 (Available 24 hours, 7 days a week)
I know you may be frustrated with your TV malfunctioning, I had similar issues with my LG. When you call, for prompt and professional service simply give them the model # and explain that the red status light blinks 10 times when you attempt to turn on the TV.
Hope this helps
