The split is it along the vertical or horizontal? Cos either of this is bad or the flex connected to the screen.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. The Panasonic call center helped us with this one. Our Closed Captioning had been turned on through the TV settings. This made us have a black box with everything besides our cable. Turning off CC on our TV Main Menu solved the problem for us.

same frustrating symptoms on brand new 42inch here! tv just turns itself off sometimes without warning or if changing to certain channels. leaves red light flashing for a while then red light goes away. any attempts with remote gives flashing green liht on tv. manual power off and on restarts tv but auto off again. found while manual power on keep changing channel on remote till stable picture appears. then use remote to shut down tv - solid red light indicates standby mode. then use remote to turn on again... till next time it happens. but what is technical fault??

Your TV resolution is not set to the proper screen size for viewing it properly and it probably cuts off your tv shows too and you just don't see it. Press the [FORMAT] or [ASPECT] button on the remote. The option available to remove the horizontal bars is Zoom.

You will need to count the number of red led blinks on the power indicator, if it is at least 10 then replace the power supply it is faulty, In my years of servicing panasonic Plasma, power supply failure is about the most common failue in this class of television from this manufacture.
