DeLonghi BCO120T Programmable Espresso / Coffee Maker Questions & Answers
DeLonghi BCO120T coffee maker side does not work.
TYPICAL FAILURE OF THIS MACHINE = THERMAL FUSE MALFUNCTION.
WHERE ARE THE THERMAL FUSES: There are 2 thermal fuses under the coffe tray and 1 fuse under the espresso boiler. (YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE BOTTOM COVER OF THE MACHINE). What this fuse does is regulate the temperature of the heating element so that everything doesn't melt (yep, I tried to bypass the fuse and found out the hard way..testing...testing..). Anyway, replacement for these thermal fuses are sold at RADIO SHACK for about $2.00. (Yep, only $2.00) If you open the bottom cover of the coffee maker and you will see the 2 fuses, they look like resistors. they are covered in a plastic tube to prevent damage. Clip them off I used a small wrench(radio shack) to pry open the small clamps that hold them, replaced them, then reclamped the new fuse back on.
REPLACEMENT FUSES: The thermal fuses have the watts/Amps and temperature stamped on them. There is 1 part that I use and has been working well for over a year ( over a year, yes this machine can last a long time!!).
The part # is Labeled - Raido Shack 270-1321 Thermal Fuse 438°F (226°C) 250VAC 10A (For heating devices like coffee makers and hair dryers). The temperature may vary + - a few degrees° on the label, from what I have seen.
HOW TO TEST THERMAL FUSES: These fuses are not only used for temp control but they also close the curcuit. If the fuse blows then it is open and will not heat. I use my ohmeter (put 1 prong at each end of the fuse) and if it reads open it means that the thermal fuse is bad, it has blown, there is no current running through it. I believe a light meter can check for continuity also and are much cheaper. Test by putting the test leads at each end of the fuse (1 prong at each end).If the light turns on then you are good, getting continuity. If you cannot get no light then it is bad. You can test your light fuse with a simple wire, touch each end and the light should go on, cut the wire in the middle and no light!!easy.
fyi. If your coffee does not get hot enough the fuse may need to be replaced also.
HOW TO READ THE OHMETER.
Know that a reading of OL means "over limit." That means the resistance is off the charts, and you have a break in the circuit. If you got an OL reading for the plug wires, you'd know there was a broken wire that needs replacing. In this case, we got an OL reading because the light switch is in the "OFF" position.

Consider that a low reading, anywhere from 0 to .5, indicates very little to no resistance. This means there's a continuity of current in the circuit. This is the reading you should get Read more: How to Use an Ohmmeter ' eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how_2282412_use-ohmmeter.html#ixzz0zwXjz6C0
Watery espresso
Need to make a finer coffee grind, and use better quality espresso beans, the best comes from Italy, I like Miscela d Oro
We havn't had our Delonghi
In uk delonghi spares by agents of kenwood.co.uk. there is a directory of local agents. before ordering element check thermal fuse attached to the element it may be open circuit.
Our coffeemaker leaks water from the bottom while
There are many possible points that the leak can be.
All points of the water supply from water tank to the pressure pump then to boiler and finally to coffee group. All this are connected together with plastic or Teflon pipes with easy fit unions secure with clips
You need to disassemble the machine and work it without the side panels of course with extra care since power electrical cables are exposed.
In this way with a very good visual check while the machine is in operation you can identify the leaking point and fix it.
The coffee side does not
There is no way to guess the problem, you need to test the circuit with a multimeter. Possible that the heating element has failed
