Delonghi problems

I had a similar problem. I fixed it by putting a magnet on top of the float inside the tank - described in the link below. I advise covering the magnet with caulk. http://www.fixya.com/support/t1898311-water_container_full_but_low_indication

Grinds beans OK and goes through the cycle but no coffee comes out even on expresso and not sounding right. Anyone know why?

If the machine is making a loud rattling noise it may be that the pump is sucking air and not water at start up. Clean out the machine, reassemble, install water tank and tilt the machine over backwards at approx 45Deg, and start the rinse cycle again. This normally clears the air lock. Good Luck.

My Delinghi eam3500 has come up with general

The general alarm message after the machine taking too long to heat up -in deed shows a problem to reach the correct temperature.
So there are a number of possible causes:
the 2 heaters (water/steam) the NTCs(temperature control sensors)
the tempearature overheat-fuses. In my case it was the (water-)heater itself. Be sure to unplug the machine from power supply befor opening!!!
First test then-do the heaters warm up??.....carefull if they do-they are hot!!! If one of them doesn´t warm up- Unplug again!...and then measure the resistance of this heater-If the heater is ok,it should show around 50-58 ohms. If it shows indefinite resistance the heater is broken and you have to exchange it.
In case of both the heaters showing the~50ohms you will have to check the thermal resistors/fuse/NTC.
For me the two forums below wer of great help for me...of course they are in german...but didn´t you wish to learn a foreuage anyway???
Good luck and best regards
Wolfgang

What does generic alarm means

On my ESAM4500/Rialto espresso maker, the Generic Alarm indicated that a thermal fuse had blown. The message may indicate other problems though. Thermal fuses exist to prevent the unit from overheating but I think they can also simply wear out over time. On my unit, when I took off the back, there was a U-shaped boiler clearly visible and on that boiler there was a small fuse with a wire on each side - i.e. an inline fuse. This was the one that had blown and was preventing the unit from working. I went to ereplacementparts.com, found the part via their diagrams (which are fantastic), replaced the fuse and voila - coffee! I can't find my original posting of this answer (with pictures) but I could probably track the pictures down if you need them. It was not a complicated fix once I knew what needed to be replaced. The part was: http://www.ereplacementparts.com/tco-p-695163.html

Insert brewing unit message comes up after pressing start

The unit may not be fully inserted. Remove it and see if the housing behind it is loose. It is held in by two screws. Tighten these with an Allen key and hopefully the unit will be properly seated when you insert it.

Fill tank flashing

You need to check sensors first with multimeter or you can go to service mode by pressing two buttons(I don't remember which) in front and plug machine on and check there your machine. There should be two sensors one for tank to be inserted that's called micro switch and another one for water level you should see black magnet in your water tank as you fill it with water it will rise up.

Not hot enough

There is a setting between "Warm, Normal, Hot and Extra Hot" however no espresso machine will "boil" the coffee, as this would burn the coffee and taste disgusting.. The best thing to do is to zap the coffee for a little while in the microwave if you like a scalding cup of coffee..

Delonghi Rialto Magnifica EAM4500 won't remember custom programming

Often these buttons do "forget" their programs. If the unit's power supply is interrupted it can cause this. Otherwise check the board in the control panel, this contains the "memory" circuits.
