My Delonghi espresso machine doesn't make coffee
I think this may be similar to a problem I have had a couple of times with my Delonghi although mine is a 3300. Anyway it seems that extended use of the machine will make the O-rings on the heating element go bad so water and steam will sprays out from the hose connection to the heating element, the fix is rather simple just have a few small containers (expresso cups) to make it easier to keep track of where the screws go, its also nice to have camera phone an take pictures as you go in case you forget how it goes correctly together. So this is what I did on my 3300.1. Unplug machine.2. remove water reservoir.3. with screwdriver remove side rear and top covering.4. on the heating element the connector is white plastic with one screw and a hose coming out. remove the screw and slowly pull out the connector.5. remove the o-ring (likely red) go to your home improvement store and find the right size replacement, Likely in pluming or fixtures department.6. put the new one in, assemble unit and you will have coffee again.Note: The O-rings i have found in home improvement stores are usually black rubber rings and they dont last as long as the red rubber ring that came with the unit so you may have to repeat this in a couple of years depending on your use.
Brewing unit stuck
make sure you are trying to remove the infuser when the machine is turned off. you can damage the unit if trying to remove the infuser while the machine is on (and you won't be able to get it out).
I just got a eam
There is a blockage in the steam/ hot water circuit. By trying repeatedly to use these functions the steam boiler has now overheated and blown a thermal fuse ( thats why the alarm is displayed and now the infuser is in the wrong position for removal). If this machine is under warranty you should return it as soon as possible. If no warranty and you are a handy person (genuinely) then post again and i can help you fix it. No Good luck Rick.
The grinder on my esam
The amount of coffee grounded is also propotional to the thickenss of grinds and the time. So when you udjust the grinding more fine then with the same grinding time the grounded coffee will be reduced. So if the grinding have changed to more coarse grindig that is why the quantity have increased.
Now their is a small posibility that the standard grinding timing to be increased but this can not be fixed since this is prefixed from the factory on the electronic board thus you will need a new electronic board.Of course the increse in time is due to only a tiny electronic part on the board called variable resistance you will need to replace the whole board to be fixed.
Therefore you can try to reduce the grinding step by step to more fine to see the results nad this might work bu 70%. However the coffee running time should by aprox 1 sec for one ml of coffee. So for one espresso of 30 ml then it should take about 30 sec to run.
