Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
There is likely to be a problem with either the door solenoid/lock or the 'door closed' sensor. Both require a service engineer's attention I suggest ;-0(

If this has clarified the situation for you please score accordingly.
Thanks and good luck!

Why does it not get rid of the water and you can

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Sorry, I don't know your particular washer but try this--->
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my complete guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
-------------------------------------

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play!

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning!

Good luck!

If this is the solution please score it accordingly- thanks!

Hi; I have 55FLBWW and

Are you sure its NP and not ND the nd is for not draining, either your pump filter is plugged of the pump is clogged up and needs cleaned out, coulsd aslo be your drain hose. Best way to check is use a shop vav on the drain hose and **** up all the water you can that way, then take the filter cover off the pump filter (in front and under the bottom cover) and check for pluggage, if none is there then the pump may be clogged or not working.

Water collects in the fabric

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which needs a thorough clean,
paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD near the end ;-0)
-------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
One of these should enable you remove it
(I am having to guess some of the following!)
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.
Good luck,
John C

In the front load type washing machines you have to leave the door open after using it to allow everything to dry out. If you dont do this it will cause mold to grow on the door seal and inside the machine. So remember to leave the door open . Hope this helps you.

It won't go through a whole cycle, it starts and

Hi, this problem is usually attributed to a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is mounted under the washer top casing on the right hand side. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug.
A replacement lid switch may be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and look under the "Top and Cabinet" heading for item number 11. The lid strike will be listed as item 20.

If you do not wish to purchase parts on line, use the part numbers provided and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. These are standard parts they should have in their inventory.

My neptune will not spin but in the testing cycle

If all the components do what they should then that leaves the main control board. Also there may be one other thing that there is a problem with the door lock. This is a very common problem with this washer. What happens is the wax motor causes a couple components to fry on the control board. To see if this is the problem you have, you need to access the control board. There will be obvious burnt components. If there are no burnt components then the door lock indicator switch is bad and needs to be replaced if there is bad spots on the board the board needs to be replaced. If anything I would recommend you calling a qualified service technician to come look at it will save you allot of time and many if you don't feel up to doing this task yourself but I hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

The circuit board on my 9 year old neptune washer

Check the price of a new circuit board against the price of a new machine. Take into consideration that installing a new circuit board yourself might see the new one go the way of its predecessor due to some other fault. Have a qualified technician give you a quote on the repair and again compare prices.
