During the spin cycle the drum becomes unbalanced and thumps.
I assume that your saying this happens all the time and not just because you have too many clothes on one side of your washer. First make sure your washing machine is level and there is no problem with the feet. If that checks out take the cabinet off the washer and check the tub hold down springs/straps and make sure they are still attached....they can come loose or break. Hope this helps!
While spinning makes to much noise
This sound is an indication that the main bearing is failing, you will need a seal kit and bearing. It would be good to replace the Thrust bearing while in there too. Parts will run about $120.00 It is a pretty big job so to have an expert out and make the repair you are looking at about $175.00 labor. If the transmission were also bad which is a possibility if it is 10 years old or so you can add about $225.00 to the job.

good luck
My washer makes a grinding noise when agitating.
It sounds like you have either a bad bearing or more likely the transmission is going. Look to see if you have any oil leaking out of the transmission. If so, see if you can replace the seal that is leaking before the transmission goes completely. Good luck.
Cold water cycle has warm water
Make sure that the inlet hoses are connected to the correct inlet solenoid valve (located just inside the cabinet). If the hot water solenoid was passing water when not wanted, the washer would eventually overflow on to the floor. There may be a problem with the solenoid control circuits which may require professional help to diagnose.

You should be able to remove / open the top control panel (rear top) screws and tip it out forward to gain access to the lid switch. Be careful of the small air line that goes to the pressure switch. If that comes unhooked your machine will over fill.
