Yes ... you need a firewire port if you want to capture your video to the PC....search online for a firewire pci card or if you have a laptop you may have one already installed if not you can purchase one in pcmia format to capture your footage to pc.

Did you download the software or install it from the disc for the camera? You need to do this before it will recognize the camera. Either that or your usb cable is bad.

I had the same problem with my camera i hit to the Camera body down side and its working now.

This can be caused by several problems including a defective eject switch in the cameras internal circuitry or a bad motor and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

why you are searching for drivers??use windows movie makers...

You can connect camcorder to the PC by fireiwre (IEEE1394), if you don't have firewire controller on PC, you can buy one. It is not expensive and usually comes with the cable.

You should use PCMCIA firewire card and use firewire connection to capture your video from the camcorder.

In camera not all USB cord have the same size but mostly of the camera USB cord have 2.0 or 2.5 size.

BATTERY MAY BE SHOT.

From the online specs it appears the this camera connects via Firewire, which is a different connection than USB. If you do not have a Firewire connection you can buy an add-in card for your computer usually for less than $20 online or probably more at a Best Buy.

Try the panasonic web site they should have all old drivers for older cams

I have the same thing..bought it clearanced...thought it was capable...IT IS NOT capable of Computer upload. Check your manual there are two similar models the manual refers to gs59, gs 39 on page 7, and 8. THis model is not USB compatible..the firewire is just for service technicians It simply is not computer ready...unfortunately we are stuck!
