I'm assuming that the camera has worked properly in the past and that this is a new issue. You've replaced the batteries with fully charged ones and they are the correct, recommended batteries. I ask because some prefer Alkaline, some Lithium, some rechargeable, etc. Also ensure that the individual battery output power as listed on the battery, is in line with your camera's requirements. The time limit is set because the image sensor in the camera heats up. You need to give it some time to cool between shots. The record time is set so permanent damage will not happen to the image sensor. Sorry. That time cannot be changed.

If the camera is older than 4 years old you can not use a large memory card in it. Try using a 2 gig card. That is the only fix that does not need a professional.

The software depends on the camera being plugged into the computer, and having the camera turned on.

I would suggest starting with the manufacturer's website. I would also suggest that you include your make and model in your question, if you did type it in, it did not come through with the question. Without that info, we would just be guessing as to what you need.
