Just got a canon sd750 last week, working fine and then today it started displaying message 'card locked'. I checked the card and it is not in the lock position. Even tried a different memory card and still saying card locked! Any suggestions?
I had the same problem and it took me forever to figure it out! On my memory card there is a tiny slider that slides up and down. Mine was slid to "lock" I just slid it back and it was no longer locked! Sounds simple enough now that you know, huh?

OK, so I am a tech idiot. I just bought a new Canon S3 IS camera and am trying for the first time to insert a memory card (Sandisk Pro Duo 2MG). I think I have it inserted, but the camera reads "memory card locked". How do I unlock the memory card?
Take the card out from the camera & you should see a small slider on the side. Set the slider "up" as per the attached picture. Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

I am trying to get the date/time stamp on each picture. When I go to the menu and scroll down to date/time stamp, it is not lit up and therefore, will not let me select it as an option. I've erased all pics from camera and the date stamp still will not light up as an option (all the other options are in white letters, date stamp option is in black letters). Is something wrong with my camera?
Please e-mail me at [email protected]
Thanks!
Dear BethSmith,
I have had the same problem for a long time. It has nothing to do with the battery, etc.. It has to do with the software of the camera.
You are only able to have time stamps on the photos when you are in the postcard mode. (resolution will be set to 1600x1200, at fine setting) Check out page 29 and 39 of Advance user manual!
Good luck,
Shah

I have a Canon IXUS 750. It is delivered with softwarw so i can download the pictures from camera to PC. I somtimes want to copy pictures back to the camera, but it fails. "Cut and paste" does not function. Can anybody help me
Try closing the included software, open My Computer, look for "Removable drive" or it may say the name of your camera. Open this, and you will see the folders that are on the "disk" inside your camera. You can copy files/photos from elsewhere on your computer's hard drive, to the camera's disk by using cut and paste. You must find the files you want to copy using My Computer. Usually your photos are stored in My Documents>My Pictures.
If you want the photos to appear on the camera screen once disconnected from the computer, you must search through 1 or 2 folders in the camera disk to find the Folder that the camera saves it's photos to. (Usually called something like DSC001).

I plug the camera into the USB cord and then into the port I get the message that the device driver software was not installed. It doesn't seem like my computer recognizes the camera, as it doesn't show up as a device with removable storage. As a result I am unable to upload any pictures onto the computer...
I've owned this Powershot SD550 for over a year now and I have had no problems until now. I reinstalled the software package and still got the same error. If anybody has a solution to this I would be very, very grateful.
Invest in a $10 USB memory card reader and simply take your card out and plug it in. The PC will read it as a drive and it's a simple drag and drop to get your pictures onto the PC for editing and printing. Much better than trying to trouble shoot driver issues.

I unscrewed all the screws, but on the top it seems to be glued together..should I use force?
Help
Hi Wolfy43
I have the Australian version (ixus750) of your camera.
DON'T try to force it open!!!
make sure you have the extra screw out from the button end, behind the grey cover 1 screw is visible from the outside there is another under the flexible cap. Once the end is off there is another screw with a bigger flatter head than the rest near where the flexible cover closes.
With all these screws plus ALL other visible screws out lightly twist the case.
The left end (from the back) should then come away a that end then gentle lift the back case off pulling from the left end.
there are 3 small clips that catch on the front 1/2 of the case.
Hope this helps

camera Canon IXUS 750 lens extends, beeping, fuzzy screen, when lens retracted immediately opens again, won't close cannot take focused pictures screen fades to black, E18
If your camera is still under warranty, the best thing you can do
is to take it to the nearest official Canon repair shop and Canon should
fix it for free.
If your camera is out of warranty, or if Canon refuses to repair
it for free (happens sometimes if for example they suspect the
camera has not been treated properly) you can try some of
the methods listed here to repair it yourself. These simple methods
have helped a lot of people fix their cameras.
Before trying any of the suggestions, make sure your Canon has fresh batteries and it is in recording mode.
1) Remove the batteries from the camera, wait for a couple of minutes,
then put them back in and turn the camera on.
2) Try compressed air. With a fine tip blow off gun and dry
compressed air (20 lbs) set the tip between the lens turret and the
camera body and turn on the air while moving the tip around the lens.
It should remove all dust and sand. Turn the camera on and it should
function fine.
3) Another method is to tap the padded USB cover part on a hard surface, for example, a desk. It sounds so simple, but very
often in works.
4) Try forcing the camera lens:
Turn off the camera. Place it on the back with the lens facing up and take a look at the spacing between the lens and
the lens housing. If you notice that the gap is not even all the way around the lens, the problem should be easy to
fix. This type of a problem usually occurs if the camera was dropped while the lens was extended.
Simply - VERY GENTLY - press down the lens on the side where the gap is the biggest. You should hear a
"click" as it pops back into place. Try powering the camera back on.
If the lens doesn't extend at all or it extends, and then retracts again, do the following. Turn the
camera off. Take the camera in one hand and with the other gently take one part of the lens and gently
move it round in a circular movement. Do so with both sections of the lens. You will hear a "click"
as it pops back in place. Power the camera on.
Another version of this fix would be to pull and twist on the largest ring of the lens while turning
the camera on. Listen for a "click". If at first the focus seems to be off, turn the camera on and
off and take lots of pictures, close ups and distance. Focus should slowly start improving.
5) If that doesn't work, there is an online guide for dismantling Canon cameras and fixing the E18 error. (NOTE: Try this only if your camera is no longer under warranty!)
It is a great guide with pictures and it can be found here.

I need the Date/Time stamp to be on, so it displays the date and time info on the photograph. In the settings, the option to turn the date stamp on is there but not accesable. How do I turn this setting on?
The camera must be set in the Postcard mode under the resolution setting (L, M1, M2, M3, S, Postcard) on the function menu. Press Function, scroll down to bottom, then scroll to the Postcard mode and press the Set button.

in ixus 750 it shows memory card error with all memorry cards
First of all, make sure that you are using a standard SD card (2GB or less) and NOT an SDHC card (4GB or more). Though an SDHC card looks exactly the same as an SD card, it is not. As your camera came out before the SDHC format, there is no way to make an SDHC card work with your camera. If your card is SDHC, just hang onto it. Someday you'll have a newer camera capable of using it.
But if your card already is standard SD, see this link for additional things that you can try.
