One of three possible problems. First check that you didn't accidentally press the DISP or DISPLAY button. If that's not the problem...
A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).
To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so,
please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.
Finally, it could be
a loose or poor connection of the screen's flex cables, a very common problem for your model camera. The A620's vari-angle screen is a great option for a camera, but with this moveable screen, the screens data and power cables can and do wiggle loose. It is actually relatively easy to fix by just reseating these cables, but will require opening the back face of the screen of your camera. Please see this other person who had a similar problem with an A630.
Memory card locked How do I unlock it
Remove the SD card from the camera. Slide the tiny switch on the side of the card to its other "unlocked" position. Reinsert the card in the camera. But if you've already tried this,

Why corrupted data message on photos taken on Canon A610?
Cards and cameras can be corrupted by pulling the USB cord out of the computer without using the "safely remove hardware" function. Sometimes, a card can be rescued by formatting it in the camera although this completely erases it so download any pics first using a card reader if necessary.

Hi,
Are you talking about the Spring that helps the Lens Movement?
If you are able to use it properly and lens movement is Fine, either you are talking about some other spring which might be irrelevant as you have the camera worked or either you might not have missed anything.

Canon A620 LCD shows "memory card locked" for each card I insert
This worked for me! I have the Canon Powershot SD780 IS and although my card WAS NOT locked, the camera "malfunctioned" and the switch in the camera needed to be gently pushed back IN, not DOWN on my specific camera type. This is great, I was just going to go out and buy another camera today! Thanks for the post Stephan!
