It tells us to contact

Best solution is to do exactly what is called for, which is contacting customer service! Realy with most types of errors there will be a troubleshooter section in the product manual. If you haven't already checked there, it's worth a poke before calling the service center!

Canon MP500 stopped dead, no lights, no anything.

My first suggestion here if you have not already done so, is contacting Canons customer service either through email, or phone and making them aware of your problem. It is possible after a power cable replacement that there is an internal error with the electronics inside the printer that have faulted.

Canon pixma mp 500 prints faded I ran all the fix

Hi,

I am sorry to hear regarding the problem.

This is a common problem on these printer. The problem you mentioned is highly suggestive of faulty print head. I am taking into assumption that the cartridge is full and is working properly. You could try to re seat the cartridge. You need to clean the print head with some alcohol solvent or medical spirit. DO NOT use any water based solvent. You may soak the heads in solvent but not for too long.

If you already tried cleaning the print head / cartridge then there are only two possiblities :
1. The print heads are worned out with usage.
2. The cartridge you bought is faulty (less probable)

If the printer is in warranty then you should get it repaired by Canon for free. If not, you will have to buy new print heads from Canon.

To be very honest, these print heads are made of poor quality so that you need to replace them and Canon can make money. Thats why they sell cartridges at cheaper cost.

Please dont even think of sending it for repair to Canon if its out of warranty or anyone as again that will make hole in your pocket. Cheapest option is to buy new printer.

Incompatible device detected.Remove device.Alarm light

Hi

It is always recommended to use the original cartridges. However, as you are using G&G cartridges for several months without any issue then there might be a software or hardware issue. Please make sure that all the cables are connected firmly from/to the printer. If so then switch off the printer, unplug all the cables from/to the printer and let it sit without power for more than ten minutes. Now plug all the cables back and switch on the printer and print a test page. If the issue is not resolved then uninstall the printer drivers and reinstalled them from the CD provided with the printer. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

My canon pixma mp500 is no longer compatible with

Yes, there are additional drivers. See http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp500#DriversAndSoftware . Then select your OS and expand the appropriate sections. The basic driver link is at the top; however the full software may be more useful.

I hope this helps.

My printer was sent in

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.
