IBM ThinkPad T30 Notebook Questions & Answers
I have 2 512 cards installed and the computer only
There could be many reasons,
1 Either the RAM slot is not working
2 or the RAM card(s) are not OK
3 or the RAMs are not compatable(not of the same specs)
Solution
1 Remove both the RAM cards, clean the metal joints in both the RAMs and the RAM slots
2 Remove power, remove all power source, remove power cables including all the battery
3 Keep presssing the power switch ON for a few mins, Do....ON... OFF, ON... OFF WITHOUT any POWER
4 Replace battery, power adaptor, power cables etc
5 Insert one of the RAMs in 1st RAM slot, power on, check if it's OK, Switch OFF, remove the RAM
6 Do the above process for the other RAM, now check if that works, use the same RAM slot
7 Now do the above two steps for the 2nd RAM slot
It will give you a rough idea of where is the issue.....either RAMs are not OK or the slots have issues or there is a compatibility issue among the RAM cards.....
Pls reply back and leave a feedback
Regards
Kris
Ibm sreen shows but very dim, both on battery and when plugged to
I haven't dealt with a lot of Thinkpads, however when I've ran into this situation on Toshiba and Dell it's because the settings in Contol Panel have accidently been set to "battery mode". Go to Control Panel and select "power options", be sure that you have the Plugged-in options set to high. In some cases, as with Toshiba, they have an additional program listed to run these options. Then select this program instead.
To unlock a Thinkpad that has been Supervisory locked is not so easy. You have to take it apart in both cases that I know of. Easiest is to find the system battery located on the Motherboard and remove the battery. Once the battery is removed short out the connector pins for 30-60 seconds. Slip the battery back in and you should be able to get into the Bios settings. Bad news is that it will also reset all settings back to factory though now adays most are Auto settings.
The other way in my opinion is way to complicated, it's easier to ask to person you purchased from for the password. But go here if you wish to try your luck for instructions,

SCREEN SUDDENLY WENT DIM
One of 2 things happened....
1) You Blew the Power Inverter... The Power inverter is a thin rectangular circuit board that plugs into the display panel cable and also powers the LCD Bulb.. If This Part Fails - You Lose Light to the Display even though the display will still be on and viewable against a bright light....
2) The LCD Bulb is Faulty... When the LCD Bulb Fails it will typically give pre-warning signs- though not always.... It will give signs like the whole screen has a light orange or pinkish tone to it, but eventually it will blow and no light at all to the Display Panel....
Both Of These Are Repairable....
The Power Inverter Can Be Purchased Off of Ebay, For Around $15 to $30
The LCD Bulb Itself is also Replaceable.. Though It is a Job Only to Be Performed By An Experienced Laptop Tech... Bulbs as well can be bought off of ebay for a few bucks..
How do i connect to a printer
Hi Jenelle
I think we will need more information to be sure to fix this problem, like the model of the printer and are you trying to connect to it with USB cable or through network (with LAN or with wifi).
in most cases anyway make sure the wires are connected correctly (USB) and download the below link to identify and install your printer if it's not installed correctly.
press the identify now button after connecting it with USB.
