Screen shakes and it freezes
i suspect a possible loose contact between the ribbon connecting the motherboard module to the LCD display module. if you can open up the laptop, check if the both the ends are snug and tight.
Where is the wireless button on t42 thinkpad
There's no hardware switch to activate and deactivate the wireless networking, but pressing Fn and F5 brings up a menu that allows you to turn Bluetooth on/off, WiFi on/off or both. It seems like IBM isn't satisfied with standard toggle buttons like other notebook manufacturers - even pressing the Fn and F7 buttons to switch between internal and external screens, brings up a menu with multiple display settings and resolutions.
Hope this helps,
David
Keyboard does not accept any input
good chance that is is indeed your driver, but try updateing your keyboard drivers, sometimes an OS wont relaize the drivers are out of date or corrupted untill the right amount of time goes by, so it will miss it for awhile then seemingly randomly stop working. if thi dosnt work i sugjest a USB keyboard.
Hard drive not found
well you have 3 optionstry putting in a bootable ISO file (like a copy of windows) you might need to change the boot order. to have your cd/dvd (e:) drive boot 1st, you can make them go up and down with f5 and f6id try this 1st.... can you get into the BIOS? by striking f2 i believe... if so go to the advanced tab-system configuration- try changing 2 things...SATA controller to compatibility and your boot mode to CSMplug and play method..... will allow you to unplug the harddrive from the motherboard, plug it in, and it will refresh it, if this dosn't work, let me know 951-210-4757
How can i turn on wifi?
Step 1:which operating system ? For the most part, IBM has switched its focus away from personal computers and more towards large business items such as servers and networks. However, it is still possible to use and purchase an IBM Thinkpad. These are IBM's version of the laptop. A majority of IBM Thinkpads still use Windows XP and offer the function of connecting to WiFi, as long as the connection has been properly configured. Power on the IBM Thinkpad and wait for it to completely boot up. Right-click the small wireless desktop icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Select "View Available Wireless Signals" from the pull-up menu. This is going to load a small window that displays all of the available WiFi signals in the area. There are going to be padlock icons next to the signals if a password has been placed on them. Click on one of the WiFi signals to which you want to connect. If a password is required, you are going to be asked here to type it in. Wait a few moments for the IBM Thinkpad to connect to the WiFi signal. The computer is going to display a small message window once the connection has completed. You have now finished the configuration, and you can begin to surf the Internet.
When i open my Computer it was showing locked key.
What you are referring to is likely the hardware password that is set in the BIOS. To remove it, you will need the code that it was originally set for, boot into the BIOS, goto security, and turn off Power On Password
Need driver for network controller
The same model ThinkPad can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download the drivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: -
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true You can download the various drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, they will then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install the various drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).
