My machine runs but it does not gather any water

There are 5 basic, but solvable reasons for what you described. Of these 5 you have already completed 2 of them.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen

I hope this helps you to further troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

The last time the bucket was remove, it wasn't reinstalled properly or the float valve in the top of the bucket is stuck in the "UP" position (if yours is so equipped).

Remove the bucket and check for the float valve. If it's in the up position, jiggle the arm to make it return to the down position. Reinstall the bucket, so that it fits "squarely" from top to bottom, into it's holder. It must make firm contact with Bucket Safety Removal Switch on the back wall of the bucket holder. When installed properly, the bucket should not tilt down at the bottom.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

The little foam block is the end of the float valve. Try to put it carefully back in place, as the bucket may overflow or the dehumidifier may not work at all.

If you find you need to replace just the foam block, you can purchase it from the following website.

the unit does not require 'recharging' unless you've had a refrigerant leak - in which case you will need a qualified AC TECH to recharge it for you, after, he/she has found and repaired the leak.
But, as I said above, without a leak in the system you do not need to recharge it.

Dehumidifier runs from low to high.does not keep

If you are operating the dehumidifier in continual mode, this is normal, based on the humidity extraction level you have the unit set on. It senses when there is humidity to remove and speeds up. When it has reached the level you have set it for, it slows down and keeps the air circulating, until it senses a need to speed up, again.

Hope this helps you. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

The drain hose connecter, which accepts a garden hose type coupling is an intricate part of the unit. It is not removable. If yours broke OFF, that's a different story. However, that Part # 5214A20027A Drain Hose Connect is no longer available. As are many other parts for Maytag Dehumidifiers, that were manufactured by the now defunct, Fedders.

Unfortunately, I do think you'll be able to run out to the local hardware store and get parts to fabricate one. As the lion's share of the part is internal. http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/search/partinfo.php?partsID=282294&modelsID=116727&typeName=dehumidifier

MY unit keeps on freezing up no problem with the

I think a part of the problem is that you have the humidity extraction level set to high. 50 to 60% is pretty much the humidity level throughout most of the year. Lowering it to 35%m should make a difference.

If you are using this in a basement application, the temperature at floor level can be 10 degrees cooler than at shoulder level. Most dehumidifiers don't work well at temperatures between 40 & 60 degrees F. Unless, they are Low Temp models designed for basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc. That can handle the weight of the unit, plus a full tank of water can resolve this problem.

If you can access the cooling coils, they may be dirty and need wiping off with a damp rag. Then flow with a dry clean rag to dry them. A light coating of WD40 helps to preserve the coils.

I hope this helps you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

This problem is generally caused by improper installation of the water collection bucket. In not installed properly, the bucket will not make contact with bucket removal safety switch.
When installing the bucket, be sure that you seat it "squarely" from top to bottom into the bucket holder. The bottom of the bucket should not tilt down in any way.

Another cause ( if your unit has one ) is the float valve in the top of the water collection bucket is stuck in the UP position. Which indicates to the units electronics, that the bucket is full.
Remove the bucket and look at the top of it. You may see what appears to be a plastic lever contraption, that is the float valve. If it appears to be in the UP position, jiggle the rod to get it to return to the down position.

I hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hi,
Is it producing water or not??? If no water is being produced, then check out this tip...

Dehumidifier is running but no water is in bucket

If you are making water and it is just going all over the place then, the little spout coming off the bottom of the coil, that runs the water into the bucket is clogged with dirt and you just need to take a small toothpick or knife and work the dirt out of the spout...
