The spring holding the door

If you take the bottom panel off there are two springs, if one is still in place you can see where the other one goes. Hope you found this helpful.

My dishwasher turns on, and

  1. For some reason the water valve is not opening. Check the valve solenoid coil to see if it is burned out. If not, check for voltage on the coil when the dishwasher is supposed to be filling. If you get voltage, but no water, the valve is either stuck shut or somebody turned off a water shutoff valve upstream. If you never get voltage on the coil, check the circuitry back to the timer; or
  2. You get water, but it isn't spraying. Check the pump, pump motor and timer.

Leaking from the lower right hand side during rinse cycle.

I had the problem with dribbles of water from the right side lower edge of the door, causing puddles across the floor.
Found there was a RECALL on MDB6000AWW models. The door inside panel was replaced by the dealer for free. No more puddles.

We have a MDB6000AWW model d/w. It is leaking

Yes what happens is it gets past the rubber seal somewhere higher during the cycle and gravity pulls the water down to where you see it leaking. 11 years is a good lifespan of a door seal. Plus they are easy to pull out and replace. Just yank it out and push the new one in. Hope this helps.

Maytag Dishwasher Leak

HI. this is a inlet assembly issue. The water inlet valve can be identified by the water hoses connected to it. One hose will lead from the valve to the pump/motor assembly in the center of the dishwasher. Check that the hoses are securely connected to the valve and that there are no kinks in the hoses which could restrict water flow. There are two wires (four, if it has two solenoids) connected to the water inlet valve. Label the wires and connections so that you can properly reconnect them later. The wires are connected with slip on connectors. Firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals (do not pull on the wire itself). You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors. Inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If either is corroded they should be cleaned or replaced.

Use a continuity tester or multimeter to test for continuity. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each terminal. A reading of infinity indicates a bad solenoid that must be replaced. Different brands and models will have various measurements, but the valve should show some resistance if it is functioning properly. If your valve has two solenoids, test the second one in the same way as the first.

If the solenoid is working properly, but water leaks through the valve even when the dishwasher is off, then the valve itself is the problem. Debris may be preventing the valve from closing. If the valve cannot be cleaned, it will have to be replaced. The valve can also fail mechanically. So even if it passes the electrical test, it may still require replacement. If you have ruled out all other possibilities, go ahead and replace the valve.

***(((NOTE-- It i possible that the valve housing has cracked as well. make sure that the hoses are connected properly during your testing. If there are no hose issues, this will be a defective valve assembly)))

Maytag dishwasher that won't drain when finished

HI, usually, if the dishwasher dose not drain properly, it will be the fault of a defective or, malfunctioning pump. i will list several problem areas to check. Inspect each area properly and, replace any component that is faulty or fouled.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

My dishwasher will not drain. I have taken it

More than likely it is your food disposal. Remove your drain line from the disposal and clean and inspect it, then clean out where it connects in the disposal. This should allow it to drain, if not remove the drain from the bottom of the dishwasher and clean it out there. This should fix your problem.

Will not start. Checked pwr to the plug. Is

HI, there are four problem spots that i recommend checking. these are the most common hot spots for a non responsive dishwasher. Check each area thoroughly to address this issue.

1. No power to the dishwasher
Make sure there's power getting to the dishwasher. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power. Sometimes the power cord disconnects at the dishwasher (inside the junction box, behind the bottom kick panel), if this is the case, the wiring must be repaired or replaced.

2. Door switch
Replace if defective.

3. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

4. Selector switch
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).
