Maytag quiet series 200 dishwasher spray arms won't turn

Have you tried tighten the spray arms? They may have come lose at the fittings so need to be tightened up. You can normally tighten them with your hand. Take any traps/filters out of the dishwasher and clean them. You may find answers here: https://www.maytag.com

Yesterday opened the door to dishwasher, and heard

Hello,

Either the door spring is broken or the linkage that ties the spring to the door hinge...the springs hook onto the leg/frame asm that supports the tub then the spring fit into that linkage and the liknage fits onto the door hinges.

This link is a parts breakdown for your model and item #6 is the spring and item #11 is the linkage..their is 2 of them (one on the left and one on the right) and its reccomended that both are replaced at the same time

Here is that link so are can get a good look of how and where they go http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Maytag-Parts/Dishwasher-Parts/Model-MDB4000AWA/3048/0130000/M0512217/00002?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=MDB4000AWA

Maytag dishwasher MDB4000AWX Motor runs

Hi,

Thank you for contacting fixya.com.

There is possibly a filter screen on the pump that you can get at and clean. It sounds like the pump is not pumping enough. Remove the lower arm and clean it out. Also Part of what the timer does is control the motor and drain valve.

The timer motor regulates the length of time power is routed to each component. If the timer motor does not function properly, it can result in a wide range of problems. Common symptoms include sticking in a cycle, cycle times running too long, or failure of the dishwasher to start at all. If the timer doesn't work properly, the water may not drain and you need to replace the timer.

In many cases dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle requires. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time. On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.The heating element is used to heat the water and/or dry the dishes. If it does not function properly it can result in unsatisfactory cleansing of the dishes or the failure of a cycle to complete properly. Also you can test the thermostat whether it is bad or not.So these are the probable reasons that you have to consider when you troubleshoot your problem when the dishwasher won't proceed to rinse cycle.

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

Water drips out of bottem of door and i change the

I have the same problem with my dishwasher. I have replaced the door seal and it still leaks. It seems like the channel where the seal fits is just a little too deep for the seal. As a temporary fix, I pull the door seal out of the channel about 3/8 inch on the side that leaks before closing the door to run the dishwasher. When the door closes, it pushes against the seal and that seems to work for me. A more permanent solution would to be to add about a 1/8 inch filler gasket into the channel then put the door seal back. That way the seal will press on the the gasket instead of bottoming out into the channel. Hope this helps you.

I have a small dishwasher it goes through all

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter. Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines. First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. If you have checked the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

My dishes are feeling gritty

Hi,

Thanks for writing to Fixya.com.

Sometimes a buildup of junk behind the filter screen and under the cover at the bottom of the dishwasher where we also find standing water that was not draining. It seems does not have enough pressure to properly function. Tap the delivery tube that feeds this nozzle and might be the water pressure jumped immediately. So the problem lies either with the pump or maybe the impeller. Also for some reason the full flow of water is not making it to the upper spray arm. The problem was not enough water to get the arm to spin. To test this just adds a pan of water to the wash cycle and see if the arm spins. If it does then the problem may be with the water intake line. There is a screen at the connection where the intake line enters the dishwasher. So turn the supply valve off and disconnect the intake line and remove particles that may be trapped in the screen. The cause of the particles is from the hot water tank that tends to accumulate a bit of corrosion on the bottom of tank. To remedy this just open the valve at the bottom of the hot water tank and drain it in a pan until the water is clear.

Thanks for contacting Fixya and please accept the solution if it has helped you.

My dishwasher was not getting the dishes clean, so

If there is still standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher, remove it with a wet vac then look for the missing screw. It might be in the vac.

If no luck, try using a good small stick magnet to retrieve the screw. These screws are usually stainless steel, but the alloy is in the low 300 series so they are still slightly magnetic.

If you pull the slinger/impeller, you may need to replace the pump/slinger mechanical seal, so proceed carefully.
