Hi,

You need to download your motherboard driver according to the operating system you are using. Otherwise it will not work properly.

Unfortunately, you have Soundmax AD1981A AC97 sound. The only download I can find for you, which you may ahve already have tried, is here

You can give it a try if you haven't already. The Soundmax sound is no longer supported at all. You may want to consider a sound or graphics card if all else fails. Good luck.

Only regular DDR memory will work on that motherboard.

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall both the sound drivers and the sound card make sure you have both of these devices backed up to a disc before uninstalling a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver to do this right click to install driver also click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound,video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers click start control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers make sure you have selected the (((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there also click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar if his does not fix the problem

have you tried this control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand,system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer hope this helps don

your board is an old board already this is compatible with socket 478 processors. so you may replace it with any board that supports socket 478 type processors one would be 'Intel Desktop Board D850MD'

the beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk,and remains active untill turned off. make sure that your RAM is securely seated try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ? hope this helps

Intel's site has manuals for all their motherboards, and it has information on where all the LEDS go.

Here are the connections sockets. The front panel power connection socket is this one marked as C

and here are the connections details for the pins

Mention that the leds (power and hd activity) have no problem in reverse polarity connection. They will not light on. So if you came up with this problem, reverse the polarity.
