Maytag MDB6650AWW will not fill
My Maytag MDB6650AWW dishwasher would not fill. The lights on the panel were on when I tried the wash cycle. I tested the water valve but no voltage was found during the cycle. I thought it may be the timer/control circuit. I traced the power from the door switch and found no power going to the float switch leg. I found two wires completely cut through (one going to the Water Valve) and three others partially sliced.
The handle to open the door broke...can you
notify maytag or any appliance parts/repair store or online most online parts stores have exploded views of part replacement u will only need to replace the broken handle not the whole door
How do i use it, do i turn water on
A built-in dishwasher should be connected to a hot water line under your sink, usually on the same valve as the sink. It is normal to have the water turned on all the time as there is an electrically operated valve that will supply water into the dishwasher as needed during the wash and rinse cycles. If your model includes a "sani-heat" or other setting that ensures the water is hot enough to do a good job, then you may observe a period of no audible activity during which the water that was drawn into the dishwasher is heated with the electric element below the basket or drawer where your dishes are arranged. With the water turned on, run a full cycle using the pot-clean or heavy duty wash as the starting point. If you have only push-buttons then choose the one that sounds like a full cycle. Anytime during the operation you may open the door latch to see what is going on, then close it again to resume the cycle. If you are not getting water into the dishwasher then you should check the valve and the tubing... you can remove the tubing and try filling a small bucket if you are handy with plumbing and not prone to damaging small compression nuts on plastic or brass valve ports. If water is flowing check for power at the outlet -- where I live they all use a 3-prong plug under the sink to a GFCI outlet. If your unit is hardwired then check power carefully or with the help of a qualified repairman.
Maytag dishwasher will not work
Check for broken wire(s) in the harness at the bottom of the front door (near hinge) where it transits from the inside of door to the lower motor compartment. (Design defect causes metal to cut the harness)
My Maytag dishwasher does not drain water after the wash cycle is over
Hi olabrk,
If you have a disposal make sure it is clear. You can put some icecubes in it to clean the blades and run some water through to make sure the drain is clear. If the dishwasher will still not pump out all the water check the drain line from the dishwasher to the sink drain for obstructions. If the drain is you will have to check the pump for obstructions. Sometimes glass, popcorn, toothpicks etc.... can get in the pump and prevent it from pumping out. If the pump is clear, then you will need a new pump. Good luck to you.

Grinding noise - Maytag dishwasher MDB7100
I suspect something hard like a fragment of chicken bone or a citrus seed is at the inlet to the drain pump (my favorite was a plastic pull strip from a frozen juice concentrate can - that was LOUD). Many dishwashers have a chopper similar to that in a garbage disposal right before the pump inlet, but some things like bone won't go through it. It could be something light enough to float and only hits the pump when the water level drops. You may have to remove the pump cover in the bottom of the dishwasher to find it. This would be a good time to clean any garbage out of the lower spray arm and check the spray arm bushing for excess wear.

How to Troubleshoot Dishwasher Residue

Dishwater residue is a fairly common occurrence, and several things can cause it. Even the newest dishwashers may leave residue, and it might have nothing to do with the actual dishwasher function itself. However, there are things you can do to prevent, limit or completely remove dishwasher residue during every washing cycle.

-
Detergent Residue
- Modern phosphate-free detergents are the main culprits when it comes to detergent residue. After every wash, many leave a slight whitish residue behind. After several washings, the residue becomes caked on and leaves a noticeable white tint to your dishes. Some dishwasher detergent brands are better than others, and either minimize residue or do not leave any. Once residue is present, however, the only way to remove it is by hand scrubbing or scraping.
Hard-Water Residue
- Hard-water residue comes from non-softened water from your hot water tank. Non-softened water leaves a white tint on dishes, but no amount of scrubbing will remove it. Only by wiping a small patch of the dish with vinegar or lemon juice will you be able to ascertain whether the white residue left is hard water or detergent. The slight acidic action of the vinegar or lemon juice removes hard-water stains, but they have no effect on detergent residue.
Greasy Residue
- If the dishes feel greasy when they come out of the dishwasher freshly washed, you are dealing with a greasy residue. There are two main reasons for this: either the detergent is not an effective grease remover, or the hot water inside of the dishwasher, either from the hot water tank or the dishwasher's heating elements, is not hot enough. Boosting the hot water temperature on the water tank may solve the problem, and a second wash cycle may be needed for the dishes. A preventive measure of running the dishwasher empty with a full load of detergent also removes the residue inside of the dishwasher.
Streaking and Spotting Residue
- If you have spotting or streaking on your dishes, that may be a sign you need a rinse agent. Many modern dishwashers recommend a rinse agent to prevent spotting or streaking, and without one, your dishes will never be crystal clear or streak-free. The next time you do a dishwasher load, add a rinse agent. If the dishes come out spot- and streak-free, the problem is solved.
