Maytag MDB9600A Jetclean II Built-in Dishwasher - Page 8 Questions & Answers
Dishes not clean
Depending on the age of this Maytag Jetclean II, you either have a failing pump motor that would need to be replaced.
First step is to clear the filter that is beneath the lower spray arm. (Tools required) Remove all debris you find. Then place a bowl or large cup of vinegar inside the empty dishwasher with no dishwasher powder added and run the unit for a full or short cycle. Use either Cascade or Electrosol powder for the next 30 days, never use gel or tablets in any diswasher.
Please report back what you find and do.
Washer won't start
On the Maytag Jetclean II, this problem can be fixed by replacing the timer assembly that is behind the rotary knob you mention.
Good Luck!
Does not woork
Has the water drained by the time the dishwasher powers off?
The clicking sound is probably the (failed) pump motor and will require a service call or replacement of the unit.
Makes growling noise during the wash cycle.
Hi Spacepaint,
No manufacturer hides the model/serial number behind the enclosure. Look closely on the side of the door panel edge and on the inside edge of the door jam. You will find the model number there.
Growling that happens on every cycle normaly indicates either debris in the sump area / filter or a failing pump motor. Remove screws and inspect the well area for debris.
Recommend a service call if problem is not resolved by the cleaning.
Maytag dishwasher cannot choose cycle on light panel
hello hmm ok so no lights it sounds like your control panel after unplugging your dish washer check the panel for loose wires the panel is the part behind were your buttons are located will have to remove your back cover to access this if that's all good then try your power cord again make sure its not got any loose wires were it attaches into the dish washer have a nice day and good luck let me know if you find anything.
No-spin
the spinning of the arms is created by the force of the water shooting out of the holes. your top arm may have debris build up in it that prevents proper water flow. u can also remove the arm and see it there is build up on the contact point were it rotates. clean it if its dirty. "dishwasher magic" is good for cleaning mineral build up in your system. also, make sure your not putting dishes on the top rack that are too tall and prevent the blade from rotating
Maytag MDB9600A does not drain well & is noisy
try using a dishwasher cleaner, u can find it at walmart or your local supermarket. I found "dishwasher magic" is Wia good brand. U could also try several packets of lemon koolaid mix, the stuff in the small packets without the sugar in it. Run a complete cycle with the hottest water possible, and no other dishes in the washer. Make sure to read the directions on the bottle of dishwasher magic. hopefully these cleaners will clear out any deposits that are blocking your system. U might need two run a second cycle to clear out everything. If this does not work, and your washer still does not drain properly, your pump may be malfunctioning. Remember to make sure u load your washer correctly too. Which ever rack u put your plates on, make sure they are all vertical, and everything else on that rack should be loaded the same way. this will allow water to easily shoot thru to the second rack of your washer. u can load your second rack however, just make sure nothing will be hitting the water jet blade and prevent it from rotating.
Dishwasher filled with water even though cycle was finished.
the same problem accures with some types of washing machines, when you turn on the machine the control switch sends a signal to a valve on the mains water supply inside the back of your machine telling it to open the problem accours if you live in an area that has hard water because lime scale builds up in this valve so when you switch it off the valve is in the open position because of a lime scale build up, i would say it needs an new valve.adrian
Hear the motor running, no water in dishwasher
I thought I would fix this myself - but hubby took a look, wiggled a few wires and said 'there's your problem'. The water valve would not open because a connecting wire was loose. It was the kitten after all - I'd better pop that panel back on.

Check to see in you have enough water in tank. The dishwasher fills then recirculates this water under pressure. If you have water in tank, listen to see if motor is running or not. If it is, you may have clogged jet holes in the wash arms.
Problem with water cycling
You say the water valve is open, are you referring to the supply water valve, or the water valve inside the dishwasher?
If the supply valve is open, then chances are that the electric water valve inside the dishwasher is bad, or the dishwasher control is bad.
Usually, the water line connects right at the water valve, underneath the dishwasher.
Reply with the make and model number of the DW and I can give further instruction if you or someone you know is good with a multimeter and reading schematics or wiring diagrams.
MDC4650AWW Portable Dishwasher
We've had a similar problem. A banshee screaming noise that's makes the
skin crawl. Since our machine is well out of warranty I took the
insides apart and found only a few cherry pits. (Lesson learned, always
scrape your dishes before loading.) We covered out ears for a few
minutes and the bad, bad noise went away. But the noise came back, it
didn't stay away.. So here's what I found with more tinkering.
1. Problem: Small hard things can get lodged in the food mill/grinder
assembly at the bottom of the dishwasher tub. It's there to cut up the
big chus of organic matter I presume.Today I found a thin piece of
plastic about an 1" long that got caught and was resisting being
ground(even though we know resistance is futile) by the grinder thing.
Anyway, I took the offending piece out, put it back together and the
machine is working fine. I have a hunch that the first instance may
have been one of those stray cherry pits that broke up enough to get
caught.
2. Solution: take apart inside assemblies to get down to the "foodmill"
like thingie and see if there's something hard organic or unorganic
causing the noise. Discard. Put back together and hope that solves it.
(It did for our machine)
3. What's needed? Good knees or a decent knee pad and a few simple tools as follows:
A. 1- medium flat blade screwdriver
B. 2- TORX screwdrivers, # T-15 and T-20, or equivalent bits for a portable electric drill/screwdriver.
C. Small pair of regular pliers or simialr tool.
D. Muttering under your breath like Fred Flintstone, or not.
4. Process:
Take out the water jet assembly. It is held by a clip at the back and
top. Use the screwdriver to pry the tabs away from the clips, then pull
the assembly out at the bottom where it connects. It's a simple slide
in/out fit. The bottom whirlygig water jet is fastened with a threaded
cap that can be removed with the pliers. (BTW, this can get clogged
with gunk. while you have it of check for gunk. Then, keeping track,
remove the remaining hardware with the TORX #T-20 screwdriver until you
get to a round black piece. The black piece has to come off before you
can remove the piece with the filter and grinding screen. Use the #T-15
bit for removal of the black piece. Then remove the rest 'till you see
a "blade". Hopefully in that process, whatever was causing "the noise"
will fall out and you can discard it. Observe how gross it is in there,
shudder, and begin the process in reverse.
I do have some pictures of the process in stages if you want. E-mail me

"at")
Well, that's it. I hope it helps someone.
Have a Blessed New Year!

Maytag Jetclean problem
Hi!!! 10 years is alot for a dishwasher..You could have a plugged drain pump.Check your drain pump. All make sure that the water inside your dish water is hot inside it should read over 100 plus..Good luck..
Dishwasher does not drain
If you cannot get the diswasher to drain there is some obstruction in the drain line going to the disposal. First turn the power off to the diswasher at the breaker panel then open doors under sink and follow drain line to the disposal there you will find a hose clamp(silver) that you must loosten with a flat blade screw driver ( get a bucket under the disposal) pull the drain line loose and dump out excess water and debris inspect area going into the disosal to make shure it is not clogged up
reverse your proceedure and reconnect the drain
Before trying the dishwasher take some ice cubes and run thewater then put in disposal and turn on that should clean the disposal
try your dishwasher I forgot to mention that theri is a strainer at the bottom of you dishwasher that you can remove to be sure it is not clogged up I assume that you have aready checked that
good luck
Leaking from fill level float riser Maytag MDB6000AWW
I have the same problems. I've noticed that the Electrasol tablets do create a fair amount of suds, so I switched back to powder.
I determined that the suds were rising up under the float and leaking around the shaft. Do not remove the float! I tried and broke the float trying to unscrew the nut. Fortunately, the new float was only a few dollars, but replacing the float did not change anything.
I solved the issue by placing a shallow plastic box under the float. I think it was the top of a box that candy came in. The amount of water that leaks is small enough that it evaporates before leaking out onto the floor.
