Maytag MDB6000AWA doesn't fill with water

I had the same problem. Check and clean the sediment screen in the "water inlet valve". If this isn't plugged it is probably the solenoid on the same valve. I replaced the water inlet valve, took apart the inside apparatus of the dishwasher and gave it a good cleaning and this fixed the problem. The valve cost me $60.00CDN delivered to my door. You can order it online for as little as $30-$40. Mike B.

Have a maytag dishwasher MDB6600 AWQ -latch/handle

Just did this myself .Need the right star screw driver to remove 11 screws holding the door inner liner
then you can access the handle latch assembly. You pull off the 2 wire connectors to the switchs that are part of the assembly. Slip connectors onto new assembly.Position the handle part thru the door and re attach inner liner. 2 of the inner liner top screws also hold the assembly in place.Unfortunely , this didn't solve my problem of the dishwasher not turning on.

I have a Maytag JetClean

Hi,
The reason for this is because a small piece of dirt has got stuck in the solenoid valve that allows the water to continue to flow through even when it should be off.
The only choice for now is to turn off the water valve going to the dishwasher where it tee's off from the main piping... hopefully you have a valve installed there.
Then a new dishwasher valve will need to be purchased and installed to correct the problem. This is a fairly easy job and the valve can be purchased at local appliance stores or online.

I am including a tip about this to give you more information about this problem.

Here is a tip that will help you...

Take the very bottom panel off, down below is a motor. Turn power off at the switch or breaker first thing. On the back side of the pump is what a propellar type part. Move with fingers until it spins free. These things seize up often! Email with any questions.

Dishwasher works fine. However to get it to work

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

As a die hard Maytag repairman I would replace the latch assembly. It is item 5 of this link:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5170524

Detailed View:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/whirlpool-dishwasher-door-latch-item-number-ap4481280.aspx (Includes the latch and the door switch)

I would also replace the door striker that is item 8 of this link:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5170524&diagram_id=28468045#d28468045

Detailed View:

Additionally while I was making repairs I would inspet the door seal, item 6 this link:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5170524&diagram_id=28468045#d28468045

These parts are not expensive but will resolve your current problem.

One more inspection to accomplish is to make sure the door is not sprung. With the door open measure the distance to the floor on the corner of each door. The corners should be within 1/8th inch of each other in distance to the floor unless you have a seriously sloped kitchen floor. I have a Padded block of wood I use to square up dishwasher doors with. It is placed on the floor and you press on the opposing corner after loosening door panel screws to square up the door. Once square you retighten the panel screws. (
Our dishwashers are 59 and 56 years old and have been together 34 years. :)

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Washer won`t stop filling with water

Your float switch is stuck or your water valve is bad.
The float switch is located under and behind the toe kick panel on the dishwasher.
Remove the toekick panel and push up on the float switch.

Incoming power goes through the door switch first, then to the control panel.
Your door switch attached to the door latch may be defective.
If the door switch checks good on a meter then the control board is bad.
