The display screen is black and won't show pictures being taken, however it does work in Review mode.
It is possible that your camera's internal computer might be going out. I had similar symptoms on one of my cameras. Have the batteries ever died in the camera? It could be one of the causes.
The cost to have the new computer installed on my camera, was about $230.00. I took mine to the local professional computer repair shop and it was returned to me in less than 24 hours and working great. Your price will vary with the make, model of your camera. Mine was a Canon 5D mk2. Take it there and let them give you the diagnosis and then decide if it's worth it to repair or replace it. Don't use my fee as your guide, unless you have the same camera.

Import your photos onto a computer using the camera's USB cable and the easy share software disc that came with your camera.
Most Laptops come with an SD card slot, so if you have one, use it. Much easier and you don't need extra software. You can take it out of your camera and import them directly from the card that way.
Sd card not reading picutures
f there will not be any option for standard uninstalation then download installation file of your current driver and run it.You should see the proposals to uninstall the driver.
Sdhc card will not format
What type and size memory card? The Z612 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.
Viewfinder won't open
Hello, I don't have the manual for your Z612 in front of me at the moment but does this model not have a small button marked EVP/LCDnear the LCD screen ? If you press the button it should switch from the LCD screen to the viewfinder.
