Cannot import pictures - error says cannot find source

I find connecting to the camera with a computer to be occasionally problematic. I STRONGLY suggest taking the SD card out and reading it directly with the computer.

Why does my Nikon D70's pictures turn out black if over shutter speed is faster than 1/60 of a second

Probably need to send it in. Do you have a flash attached? If so, remove it. Also, you might try resetting the entire camera,, in the menu settings. Finally, remove the battery for a minute, recharge and replace. See if any of that helps... Good Luck!

What is cf card unit?

The camera is having trouble accessing the memory card. Try cleaning the contacts, both on the card and in the camera, and/or try a different card.

Can you help me with

Follow the directions in the camera manual on page 200 for a hatfware reset. There is a button on the bottom of the camera. It is held down for a few seconds to reset the hardware. If that does not work, ir sounds as if the meter may have gone bad and further investigation by a qualified service tech would most likely be in order.

CHA flashing on readout screen.

If there are brackets around the CHR, it means the card is locked. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If there are no brackets around the CHR, it means the camera cannot read your memory card. Try a different card.

Sccording to my D70 manual:
"CHA"= this card cannot be used. try Nikon approved card,, Try reformatting card in camera, not PC, clean card contacts in camera using camel hair brush and blower.

I have a D70 and have just received a 50mm NIKKOR

Turn the aperture ring on the lens to its smallest aperture (largest f/number) and lock it. Control the aperture from the camera, just as with other lenses.

My computer (and my husband's)stopped

Hello

My apologies if this message finds you long after posting this problem , but I am currently working through a backlog of problems that never got answered and hopefully this info can still be of use if not now possibly in future.

Please download Disc Digger HERE. This is a free tool you can use that works very well and there is no installation required, just run the program once you downloaded it.

Once you have connected the memory card to the computer via either the camera or preferably with a usb card reader , run the program.

On the program , select the dig deep option for accidentaly deleted files or dig deeper for a formatted card. Then select the card you want to do the recovery on and run the program.

The data will be displayed and you can recover it from there. This will only work if the card has not been used since the pictures were lost. Save the files to a location on the computer hard drive and not back to the memory card as this will overwrite the other pictures that still needs to be recovered.

Some of the properties of the files may become lost in the recovery but the pictures should be fine.

Feel free to ask if you need more assistance.

Kind Regards
Andrea

Get a usb memory card reader. I have never ever used the cord from camera to pc. It's so much easier to just take out the card.

What is NEF files?

A file in NEF format (Nikon Electronic format) is data flow from the photosensitive matrix of your camera written without any processing.

NEF contains more information than JPEG or TIFF and is often called digital negative. That's why professional photographers usually prefer NEF to other formats. Besides, many owners of photo cameras store their photo collections in NEF format. This ensures maximal quality of stored photos and lowest possible losses.
