My Maytag Gas Oven MGR5750ADW preheats on certain temperatures and not others. For example it wont preheat at 350 degrees but will preheat at 380 degrees. At 350 we smell gas.

What you have is an ignition problem get this corrected before you experience a delayed ignition, the hot surface ignitor pulls enough amps 3-3.4 to power up and open the gas valve but ignition did not take place reason you smell gas don't know how old unit is ignitor may be weak good on draws 3-3.5 amps burner ports may be dirty or the bracket that the ignitor mounts too may have bowed away from the burner

I believe the display you are seeing is s a b or S A b which means sabbath mode, a feature related to Jewish religious requirements about work on the sabbath. Check the owners manual to identify how to turn this mode on or off.

Back burners igniter will not work.

Replace the "spark module" and you will be good to go. Here is the part to order and there is also a video on that same page to show you how to make the repair.

Oven takes a long time to heat up.

Hello. To go 12 years without issues is excellent. Now however you will have to make a decision to repair or replace. Be sure to get a firm estimate before you repair and compare that to the cost of replacement.

here is what may be causing your problem:

Usually when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake igniter is weak or burned out. The igniter is a small, round or rectangular device, that's about 1 inch by 4 to 8 inches. It's near the burner itself.

The burner is the tube-type device the gas flows through before it's ignited. It has many small holes on the sides to let the gas, when ignited, form a long, low flame. If the igniter is weak, if it glows red but doesn't get hot enough, or if it's burned out, the gas doesn't flow to the burner and the burner won't ignite. If this is the problem, you may need to replace either the igniter or the gas safety valve. Usually the igniter is to blame.

Other causes Other reasons that your oven may not bake are:

  • The clock settings are incorrect (if you have timed baking or a self-cleaning oven).

  • The thermostat is defective.

  • The safety valve that prevents accidental gas flow is defective.

  • The selector switch is defective.

Oven will shut off by itself. This has occurred

Its the problem with bake ignitor, it has to be replaced. Pretty easy, remove the floor, after unplugging, then 2 screws and 2 wire connections

Part cost is around $40 to $75 and is held in with 2 screws for the most part on these ranges. takes all of 25 minutes , only a screwdriver and a 1/4" nut driver is needed for it's replacement.
