Unfortunately, Logitech does not sell replacement LCD screens or provide repairs. However, you may be in luck. There is a guy on eBay who does some repairing for 880's and 890's. Try searching on eBay for 'repair harmony 880'
HARMONY 890 REMOTE WILL NOT CHARGE. I HAVE NEW
Hi, This is actually a fairly common issue. There is a design flaw with the 880 and 890 chargers that causes the pins to no longer make contact after a while. Good news is that to buy a replacement charger is only about $10.
You can try pressing down on the remote, and wiggling it around. It's just that the pins are not making contact. If pressing down helps, you can fasten it on with a elasitc band or something so that it keeps charging.
We can change activities using the remote, but we
hey there,
I think I know what your issue could be. Have you customized your remote's buttons for those Activities? look at your customized buttons list for your Activities to make sure that your commands are placed with the right button if you know what I mean. There is an option in their software for that. The other thing I was told that works is to learn the commands from your original remotes. I guess if the commands do not work with the regular learning then you can do something called learn in raw..I am not sure how to get to it off the top of my head though...
I hope that has helped you
My Harmony 890 turns everything on and off, but
I would hook the harmony back up to your computer and the update the remote. If that does not fix the problem then I would down load the firmware and then update your remote. If you still have problems I would check your check your buttons in the program. You can do this by logging onto your Harmony account, select the Activities tab and press on the “customize buttons” under the activity you are trying to fix. Scroll down to the menu exit info buttons and see if there assigned to the correct device and correct command. If none of this works I would see if the menu button works in another activity like Watch TV or Watch DVD.. If the menu button does not work in another activity then the remote may be broke. If it does work then I would try the original remote with your DVR and see if that works. If that works then I would manually teach the harmony remote. Harmony calls this “Learn command” It’s a button in the lower right corner while in the “customize button” tab.. If none of this works then pull out your 45 and put a hole in it.
Hope this helps

Hi. You can learn the buttons from the original remote so that they work

According to Logitech, the Harmony Software version 7.6 is compatible with Windows 7 as is your Harmony 890. You may need to download the 7.6 version of the software. All of your settings should transfer over to the new software, since your profile is stored on Logitech's server.
Won't charge
Hi, There are two major questions that you need to ask then this happens. They are:
1. Is the LED light on the charger lit?
2. If you press down on the remote, is it able to charge.
If the answer to both of these is yes, then yout can use an elastic band to hold the remote down so that it will charge.
If EITHER of the answers is no, then it is an issue that cant really be resolved. You should contact Logitech with the following information:
Your Harmony login ID
The PID of the remote
The P/N of the remote
Hope that helps!
My logitech 890 will not charge battery
Assuming that the charger itself is working and the battery is in good condition, then generally there are three problems that have been reported in the 880/890 series that can cause the symptom you describe:
1) Some folks have reported that the battery is not sitting tightly enough in the battery compartment. You can try folding a small piece of thin cardboard and place it between the battery and the back of the compartment. This will push the battery towards the front of the compartment and create a tighter connection against the contacts.
2) There have been reports of problems with some of the charging cradles in which the remote does not make sufficient contact with the contacts in the cradle. To ensure that the remote begins to charge, place it in the cradle and listen for a single beep. The slide show should start and then, after a few moments the screen should darken. If you hear two beeps at any time, it means that the remote has lost contact with the charging cradle and has 'woken' and is no longer in charging mode. Wiggle the remote to ensure that it is sitting in the cradle and making contact. There are also some fixes that can be done of the cradle itself, including opening it up and adjusting the height of the contacts. Others have had luck cleaning the contacts on the remote and the cradle with alcohol or a contact cleaner like DeoxIT. Still others have actually sanded down the plastic surrounding the contacts on the outside of the remote in order to bring them closer to the cradle contacts.
3) If you still have trouble after you have tried everything above, there may be a loose connection inside the remote itself. There is a very small plug that connects the charging terminals on the remote to the battery compartment. In some cases, this plug can become loose (especially if the remote has been dropped). If all else fails, you can open the remote and check to make sure that the plug is completely seated or attempt to push the terminal contacts slightly farther out. However, most people have found that altering the height of the contacts on the charging cradle is a better way to go. If you want to open the remote, do the following: remove the two screws - one in the battery compartment and one at the top of the remote. Then, using your thumbnail (this is really the best, unless you have a thin, rigid piece of plastic. A part of a credit-card may work), force your nail between the two halves of the clamshell casing near the bottom of the remote on the left or right side. Once you get your nail (or plastic) into the remote, angle it down at about 45 degrees and simply slide your hand up one side. This will release all the locking tabs very nicely without marring the surface of the remote. Then do the same on the other side. Once you are done exploring, simply realign the two halves and snap them back together.
My 890 is no longer working correctly. It won't
I had a similar issue and only needed to "re-configue" the remote... Basically, just try plugging it back into a USB cord ( connected to your computer) and go to the original programming home page and click the "Update button." It will re-program your remote as if it was new.. Over time your Harmony may lose or forget the frequency of your various components. This happened to me. Also, make sure the remote has a full charge while you're programming it. Give it a try !
The remote screen will power up with a blank
Hi, You should try upgrading the firmware to see if that fixes the problem. If it does, then you are good to go. If not then this may be a hardware issue.
The steps to update your firmware in safe mode are as follows:
1. Remove the battery, press and hold the 'OFF' button, and re-insert the battery. The screen will display 'Safe Mode!', or the 'Activities' button will be lit.
2. Connect your remote to the computer.
3. Launch the Harmony Remote Software, and log in.
4. Click "Downloads" at the top and click "Firmware".
5. The remote will go through the firmware update.
6. Select "Yes", and click NEXT to update the remote.
Hope that helps!
Logitech Harmony 890 Pro - Blank LCD Screen
Replacement screens can be found on ebay for around $25-$30. I was having the same problem as everybody else, and none of the solutions posted online worked for me - software, firmware, battery pulls, safe mode, etc. I replaced the screen in about 5 minutes and was back up and running.... I almost bought a new remote, but figured I'd try the $26 screen first.... Glad I did..
Blank screen but backlite is on
Had the same exact problem. Blue screen, no text, but remote worked ok - if you could figure out which buttons did what. Tried every solution posted online - battery pull for 10 sec, battery pull for 1 hr, and battery pull overnight. Tried updating software, firmware, but nothing worked. Found a replacement screen on ebay for $26 shipped, replaced it in less than 5 minutes, and works great.
