Call logitech harmony and they will UPS one to you. There was a problem with batteries swelling up and breaking the back. Its a known problem and they will even cover it out of warranty.

Backlight is dead, not worth repairing. Contact logitech harmony and they will give you 50% off a new remote.

Is the RF extender working, or is it just the IR out the front of the remote?Try a reboot by pulling the battery and power cycling the extender.

Are you using the RF extender? The IR almost never dies on them but the RF extenders have some problems. Pull the battery and let it reboot, then power cycle the extender.

Not worth repairing, contact harmony and they will give you a coupon for 50% off a new remote. The 900 replaced the 890, although I prefer the 890 the screen is a lot better on the 900.

HelloReplace the batteries with new ones and check. If this also does not help you, make sure that the display driver IC, attached with LCD display panel has damged. You have to replace the LCD panel and display IC as a module. OK.

Please Note: The PID (Product Identification) and P/N (Part Number) for the remote can be found either on the underside of the battery cover, or at the bottom of the battery compartment (the battery might be covering it). Your PID number is a character code with a combination of letters and numbers, starting with either WL, WD, or LZ

also, try performing a firmware upgrade as well.

1. Log into the Logitech Harmony Remote Software on your computer
2. Click on the Downloads button at the top-right corner of your screen
3. Click on the Firmware button. Follow the onscreen instructions to upgrade the firmware on your Harmony remote
4. Once the firmware upgrade is complete, click on the Update Remote button
5. Test your remote.

Hi. It sounds like some of the IR commands on your remote (menu, exit, guide, info, play, skip, etc.) for your TV and DVD player are not correct. Luckily, the Harmony remote is a Learning remote, meaning you can use your original TV or DVD player remote to teach the Harmony remote the correct commands. Hi. This could be an issue with the IR emitters on your remote wearing out, or your U-verse's IR receiver could be faulty. Try controlling the U-verse with the original remote. If the same thing happens with the original remote, then it is the IR receiver (U-verse) that is the problem. If the original remote is able to control the device from the normal distance, then your 890's IR emitters are the problem.


If you find that it is the Harmony remote that is the problem, try doing a firmware update as this often solves issues. To update the firmware on your remote, log in to the Harmony software, click "Downloads" at the top of the screen then click "Firmware."

This may be an issue with the button itself getting caught on the plastic bezel of the remote. Sometimes this happens when the remote is dropped or the plastic bezel is nicked.
My recommendation is to reprogram the device you are trying to control the volume of. This issue may occur when the incorrect IR code is programmed into the remote. Some IR codes may work intermittently and as rolling codes. Check the program and respond if problems persist.

With Harmony remotes, when they get old, often the LCD screens fail. I had this happen to my Harmony 880, and updating the firmware solved it for a while, though the solution was not permanent. To update the firmware on your remote, log in to the Harmony software and click "Downloads" at the top of the screen. On the next page, click "Firmware" and follow the steps on the screen.

Unfortunately, the Harmony 890 and 880 chargers have a design flaw that makes the remote slowly become unable to charge. One way that I get around this with my Harmony 880 is to attach an elastic band around the remote when it is in the charger, so that it does not lose contact. You can also purchase one of the new chargers (Logitech redesigned them) for about 10 bucks US. You can order it by calling the Logitech sales line which is 1-800-231-7717.

This has nothing to do with the remote, it's a failure in the firmware of the tv - it got corrupted. The size of the font is something that is predetermined - programmed in the firmware - you are not supposed to be able to change it. Because of that the only way to fix it is by upgrading the firmware of the tv. This is a very delicate procedure, you will have to follow the instruction in the user manual of the tv to the letter - even the smallest mistake and the tv will be bricked.

I would reset the remote to the factory conditions and then reload your specific configuration onto the remote. If that doesn't work I would suggest RMA'ing the remote with logitech if possible.
