Maytag MER5550 Electric Kitchen Range Questions & Answers
We had a power outage
Hi!!
Check breaker box for a tripped Double Breaker, probably 30A, If breakers are OK, unplug unit from wall outlet and wait 15 min. to reset the control board, plug unit it back up and check Range. You can check for power at the outlet using a voltmeter set on the AC mode.
Keep me posted!!
Oven turns off and displayes F2,F3,and sometimes F4.
5550
The error code ?F2? will be displayed along with a beeping sound if the ERC (Electronic Range Control) or ?clock? senses a runaway heat condition during the ?cook? or the ?clean? modes. It could be caused by the oven temperature sensor, by the ERC or by the wire harness between the oven temperature sensor and the ERC. If the error code ?F2? is displayed in the ?cook? or ?clean? modes only, then the problem is a bad oven temperature sensor or its wire harness. If the error code ?F2? is displayed in the time of the day mode also, then most likely a problem is the bad ERC. The access to the oven temperature sensor plug and the wires is from the back only. You have to pull the oven out of the wall (if it?s free standing) or remove it from the cabinet (if it?s built in). Disconnect the power and remove the rear cover. Check the resistance across the oven temperature sensor. It is supposed to be about 1100 Ohms at room temperature. If the resistance is incorrect, the oven temperature sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. If not, check all the wires from the oven temperature sensor to the ERC. Replace all wire nuts if any. If it is not the sensor and wires, you have to replace the ERC.
To get the right replacement part just click on the link http://tinyurl.com/34ujtl
, then type the model number of your oven in the search box, click on the ?search? button and in the new window type the word ?sensor? or the word ?clock? in the ?search by keyword? box and click the ?search? button.

Stove ignitor does not light burner. How to fix ?
This may sound silly and I know your stove is gas, but is your stove plugged into a power outlet on the wall? Some older stoves had the igniters powered from a wall socket so had to be 'plugged in' and others are powered by replaceable batteries, (AA's or AAA's), with the pack being mounted low down on the front, near one of the front feet. If it is a battery type try changing the battery for a new one. Sometimes the fix is that easy.
My maytag gemini oven keypad (numbers only) stopped working.
If the keypad on your Maytag Gemini oven (numbers only) has stopped working, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Power cycle the oven: Turn off the oven by unplugging it from the power source or by switching off the circuit breaker. Leave it powered off for a few minutes, and then plug it back in or switch the circuit breaker back on. This can sometimes reset the keypad and resolve temporary issues.
- Check for physical damage: Inspect the keypad for any physical damage, such as cracks or signs of wear. If you notice any damage, it may be causing the keypad malfunction. In such cases, the keypad might need to be replaced.
- Clean the keypad: Over time, dirt, grease, or food particles can accumulate on the keypad, which can interfere with its functioning. Use a soft, damp cloth to gently clean the keypad. Avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive moisture that could damage the keypad.
- Test the oven's other functions: Check if other functions of the oven are working properly, such as the temperature controls and other buttons. If only the numeric keypad is affected, it could indicate a specific issue with that part of the keypad or the underlying circuitry.
- Contact Maytag customer support: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it is advisable to contact Maytag customer support or schedule a service appointment with a qualified technician. They will be able to provide further guidance and assistance in diagnosing and fixing the problem.
I changed my Maytag over to lp and the oven and broiler don't get propane to it it glows but no flam what's wrong
If you've converted your Maytag oven to LP (propane) and you're experiencing issues with the oven and broiler not receiving propane and not producing a flame, there could be a few possible causes:
- Gas supply: Ensure that the propane supply to the oven is turned on and the gas valve is fully open. Check that the propane tank is properly connected and that there is sufficient propane in the tank. If the tank is low or empty, it may need to be refilled.
- Incorrect conversion: Double-check that the conversion from natural gas to LP was done correctly. Verify that the conversion orifices have been installed in the correct locations and that the air adjustment shutters or plates have been adjusted according to the manufacturer's instructions. Improper conversion can result in inadequate gas flow and a lack of flame.
- Clogged orifices: It's possible that the orifices, which control the flow of gas, have become clogged with debris or residue during the conversion process. Clean the orifices using a small brush or a compressed air canister specifically designed for cleaning gas orifices.
- Gas pressure: LP gas operates at a higher pressure than natural gas. Ensure that the pressure regulator on the oven has been adjusted or replaced to accommodate LP gas. If the regulator is not properly set for LP gas, it may not deliver the correct pressure for proper combustion.
- Faulty ignition system: If the oven and broiler are glowing but not producing a flame, there may be an issue with the ignition system. Check the igniter for any signs of damage or wear. A faulty igniter may not generate enough heat to ignite the propane. Consider replacing the igniter if necessary.
If you've checked these potential issues and the problem persists, it may be best to contact a qualified appliance technician or the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They can provide specific troubleshooting steps or arrange for a service visit to diagnose and resolve the issue with your Maytag oven.
Maytag Gemini, double oven electric. Replaced bottom element, replaced thermal sensor and tested power. It still won't heat up. WHY?
There are several potential reasons why your Maytag Gemini double oven electric range is still not heating up after replacing the bottom element and thermal sensor and testing the power. Some possibilities include:
- The wiring or control board may be faulty and preventing the oven from heating up.
- The upper heating element or broil element may also be faulty and need to be replaced.
- The oven may not be calibrated properly, which could cause it to not heat up correctly.
- There may be a problem with the oven's door latch or switch, which could prevent it from heating up.
I got a Maytag Gemini range and the front left burner smells like it's leaking gas when the knobs are all off
If you smell gas coming from your Maytag Gemini range, it is important to take immediate action. Gas leaks can be dangerous and can cause fires or explosions. Here are a few steps you should take:
- Turn off the gas supply to the range: Locate the gas shut-off valve for the range and turn it to the "off" position. This will stop the flow of gas to the appliance.
- Open windows and ventilate the area: Open windows and doors to allow fresh air to circulate. This will help dissipate the gas fumes.
- Do not use any electrical switches, appliances, or light fixtures: The sparks from these devices could potentially ignite the gas.
- Leave the house: If you suspect a gas leak, it is best to evacuate the house and go to a safe location.
- Call for professional help: Contact a gas company or a licensed appliance repair technician to repair the gas leak and check for any other issues with the appliance.
Seeking salvage 7601P428-60 timer control for Maytag gas range model 6498VVV. Sourcing suggestions?
It seems that the 7601P428-60 timer control is a discontinued part and may no longer be available from Maytag or other retailers. Your best bet for finding this part would be to check with appliance repair shops in your area, as they may have used or refurbished parts available. Keep in mind that these sources may not always have the part in stock, and it may take some time and effort to find a seller who has the part you need.
