Vista and yahoo voice compatability

Hi,

I had the same problem(s) with Vista and Yahoo Chat. I ended up with a simple workaround that doesn't involve downloading codecs etc., from 'suspicious' places, that may or may not work with your particular flavor of Vista..

First, go here: http://www.ymessengerblog.com/blog/2008/05/29/new-release-of-yahoo-messenger-90-beta/ and get the newest Yahoo Messenger 9.

Then go into a Yahoo Chat room. (I'd suggest one of the romance ones as there are usually quite a few attention strarved women and desperate men chatting away on mics.) When you click on the "Voice" button, you'll probably see this,
"this computer does not appear to have input, or it is not configured correctly" (which doesn't seem a whole lot better than the original compression issues,) BUT, all you have to do is plug in a microphone and everything works just tickety-boo. If you don't have a mic, just plug some headphones INTO the INPUT for the mic. You'll still hear everything just fine through your speakers.

It's not an ideal solution but unless someone out there remembers more than I do about their days as a 'sound guy' for local bands, it shouldn't do any harm.

Good luck.

Can't hear

it could be the problem from other side... the microphone settings on the other person side is not configured properly...

also try this:

On your Yahoo messenger, after you logged in:

Click Messenger >> Preferences >> Calling and Devices >> In the Test audio click "Open the Call Setup Assistant" walk through the wizard and see if you can hear the sound in your headset.

Laptop toshiba a300-15m webcam driver

1. Click the Windows Start button.
2. Click Control Panel, System and Maintenance and then Device Manager.
3. Right-click on Chicony USB 2.0 Camera and select Update Driver Software. A yellow exclamation point indicates that the camera is recognized by Windows but is not working properly, probably because of problem with the device driver
4. Select Browse my computer for the driver software.
5. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
6. Select USB Video Device from the list, and click Next.
7. If the message “Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device” appears, click Close.
8. Restart Windows.
The webcam should now work properly.

Logitech usb headset a-0356a trouble hearing

I don't have these headsets here and the setup to troubleshoot for your fault. But, I have an opinion.

It seems that the driver for the headset is not routing the sound from the net or other applications to the USB ports, as like with the sound from the media player.

For IE, look in the advanced settings for media and see if there is a setting for this. Also, check out all the media settings in the system for this.

I would search out the properties of the headset to see if there is a setting for this. Also search out the properties of the sound card where it allows for USB and regular sound sharing or routing.

I would also get in touch with the manufacture of this headset to find out if they know something or have a solution.

My logitech skype headsets stop

Ok I just type this out and got a page and it dissapeared so 1 more time, go to the start button, click on start, then settings, and finally bring up the control panel, then you wand sound and audio devices, ok now open that, then we want audio and volume, the chance are that you hit the little speaker on rt side of the lower task bar. It's quite common, that is the same as the slider that you should see in the panel that opened in the sound and audio devices. Also make sure that you don't have any of the mute boxes checked by mistake, other than what you choose to mute. In that same applet you can check the hardawre tab which will show you your hardware if your machine has an additional sound card it will be in there also. That should tell you it you have everything up and running the proper way, and now you know how to access all of your sound settings, as well as being able to set up any future additions you may make such as surround sound and different modes for recording and playback good luck and good listening, GYM

I've bought a logitech headset

Hi,
One goes into the green headphone/speaker plug and the other goes into the red 'microphone' hole, or maybe the blue 'line in' hole, but only if that has been set as the 'line in'.
You can change the settings of the audio ports in your soundcard software eg Realtek Mixer.
Test your levels in the Audio/Video Setup of Messenger or in the Audio settings in the Skype 'Options' under Tools.
Hope this helps
