I have an extension on

There's a website that you will be able to download the user's manual. From the manual you can see as to how you will reset your password on the phone.

Please just click_here so that you will be able to download it for free.
You may want to click_here as well, this will be your future reference.

Thanks.

We have a Merlin System, the phones are MLX-10D,

Sounds like one (or more) of your lines are out in your telephone system. Each time you press a 9 for a line the system simulates a dialtone to see what your dialing next so it can check it against the automatic route selection table. After it checks, it pulls a line out of a pool group to complete the call. At this point its grabbing a line that is not working on the system. The best way to figure out which ones arent working is to check the lines on the main console by pressing each line button and seeing if it produces dialtone. More than likely(but not allways) its going to be a line problem from your dialtone provider.

HOW CAN YOU USE A MERLIN MLX-10D AS A SINGLE LINE

For the most part, the answer is "you can't". An MLX phone's extra port can operate a 3156-MFM module and derive the extra extension. There may be some conditions, like no DTMF receiver, and a few other problems.

I didn't ever sell one, but here's a link to a search http://www.google.com/search?q=3156-mfm&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GGLL_en

You can pick one up for as little as $50 on eBay.

Setting the Time on MLX-10D

This is where the fun is going to begin. An MLX-10D is a phone. The time is in the sysem, a Legend or Magix. The time is set from the system console, usually an MLX-20L phone (bigger lots of buttons).
If you have one of those, it's easy and ehre are the directions:

To change all Merlin Legend / Merlin Magix system
The time and date is a system feature rather than an individual telephone feature. To change the date in the Legend Magix system, from the System Programming console: 1.- Press Menu 2.- Press System Program. 3.- Press Exit or Start. 4.- Press System. 5.- Press Date. 6.- Enter date in following format: mmddyy (where MM is the month, DD is the day, and YY is the year). 7.- Press Enter. 8.- Press Exit or Back. 9.- Press Home or Exit to exit programming mode. To change the time in the Legend Magix system, from the System Programming console: 1.- Press Menu. 2.- Press System Program. 3.- Press Exit or Start 4.- Press System. 5.- Press Time. 6.- Enter the time in military/24 hour format: HH:MM (where HH is the hour, 01-24, and MM is minutes, 00-60). 7.- Press Enter. 8.- Press Exit or Back. 9.- Press Home or Exit to exit programming mode.
If you DON'T have a 20L, then you have to use WIN-SPM to change the time from the cabinet or it can be done remotely IIRC.

If none of these work, or it does, please comment back.
