Unfortunately the only way to get recovery cds is to ask them from producer.
If you want to recovery your pc there may be a second way. Some producers create a hidden partition and from there is possible to recover the pc. Some of the producers install also a small utility on the computer that allow to create recovery cds.

Want to re-format MSI Notebook S420.

Hello megan_van

While your laptop is on, eject the optical drive and insert the recovery CD. Turn off your laptop via the power button, and turn it back on. The recovery CD should boot. Follow the on-screen instructions to do a clean install.

If the recovery CD doesn't boot, try holding down the C key after turning on your laptop. If it still doesn't boot, you will have to change the boot order in BIOS. Don't worry, this is easier than it sounds! Follow these instructions:

1. Turn on your laptop, and look for a message that says something like PRESS (USUALLY F2, F8, DEL, ETC.) TO ENTER SETUP / BIOS. Hit that key before the Windows logo appears.

2. After hitting the relevant key, you'll be taken to the BIOS setup utility. All BIOS utilities have different appearances, but it is basically a set of menus containing different settings for your laptops hardware. Somewhere on the screen (usually the bottom), is a set of instructions for navigation your way around the BIOS. Follow these instructions to navigate your way to the option for changing the boot order.

N.B. Since every BIOS setup utility is different, the specifics on where the boot order options are located varies from computer to computer. The menu option or configuration item might be called boot options, boot, boot order, etc. The boot order option may even be located in a general menu like advanced options, advanced BIOS features, other options, etc.

3. Once you've located it, use the navigational controls to place the optical drive above the hard drive (usually the +/- keys). To be certain that the recovery CD boots, it's probably best to move the optical drive to the top of this list.

4. Within the navigational controls, there is usually an option to SAVE & EXIT. Press this key. If there isn't, look for a menu option with the heading EXIT. A SETUP CONFIRMATION box will now usually appear asking you to confrm the changes you've made to the BIOS before exiting.

N.B. The SETUP CONFIRMATION box can sometimes be worded cryptically. Read the message carefully to be sure that you're saving your changes instead of exiting WITHOUT saving your changes!

Your computer should now restart automatically, and the recovery CD should now boot.

Hope this helps. If you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Go to

and after selecting your Windows, download the drivers for your notebook.
Alternatively, clean the CD in + way. Means, up-down and right-left way and not circular we mostly do. Clean it with a soft cloth.

Hi

Thats the power plug, you would have to take apart the whole machine, so while you are at it, you could resolder the connector or use super glue or similar plastic glue to glue the plastic together. and then possibly resolder it to the mainboard.

you don't really need a new part, this can be fixed, and in anycase to replace the part you would have to take the machine completely apart.

no need to buy new parts in this case.

I've read this problem due to new hardware interferences with desktop computers, all they had to do is change a few pins around on the harddrives.. since this is a laptop, and is quite difficult and dodgy to access the hardware, the only other suggestion is to reinstall windows with a recovery disk, or windows CD-ROM.

Hope this helps :)

Hi Scarlet,There could be many possibilities for this. Since its a new Laptop, nothing could have gone wrong with Hardware or Software. But could be some configurations. Please let me know the following details. What is the Operating system. If windows, do you see the speaker icon on the right side bottom of the screen. Check if its muted. Or increase the volume. No screen display msi megabook s260

If you have a desktop monitor available try hooking your laptop up to that. if you get a display on your desktop monitor then that means your laptop screen needs replacing. If you get no display on your desktop monitor then that means the GPU chip in your laptop has gone bad.
