HI,the clicking that normally just goes to start your burners is not stopping. They just keep on with the tick, tick, ticking?.. What can go wrong that will make them keep on doing this?
There are a few possibilities for this problem. The first one is that the little switch that is behind the burner knob either went bad or got water in it. To isolate the switch that is the problem you can pull one of the wires off of behind the burner knobs one at a time till it stops. That one is the one that is bad.
If you have just washed down the stove top then you may have water in it that is making it continue to click. Let everything dry out over night and see if that fixes it. A hair dryer can be used to speed up the process.
If you pull a wire from each switch and it still goes on, then the spark module is bad. You will need to replace it.
Be aware that it is normal for all the burners to spark whenever another one is being lit.
Excessive dirt and grease can cause the burners to light hard but will not cause the spark module to keep on sparking all the time. If a burner lights hard, check the tip of the spark electrode to make sure it is clean.
If your spark module has burnt out to rapidly, or needs to be constantly replaced, you may not have a properly wired and grounded receptacle. Reversed polarity or not being grounded can cause the spark module to fail prematurely. Make sure that you do not use a two pronged outlet or extension cord for your range.
If all else fails you can always unplug the range to get the sparking to stop. You can light the burners with a charcoal grill lighter or a match if you do it carefully. Turn the burner to full on and then slowly go towards the burner keeping the flame as low to the top as possible till the burner lights.
Before you choose to run you oven in the ?Self Clean? mode be sure to read this.
After viewing many hundreds of range and oven problems there is one constant theme that comes through. ?After running the self clean feature? on my oven I have this problem or that problem. Whether the oven is gas or electric does not seem to matter. The common thing is that the self cleaning feature was just used on the oven, and now it is not working, the glass broke, or you now, cannot even get the door open.
The basic idea of a self cleaning oven is to get the oven so hot that you incinerate everything that is in the oven. The heat from this process will burn up everything in the oven and sometimes things outside also. Even though the wiring and controls are built to withstand high heat, taking the oven to such high temperatures pushes everything to the limit. If something is not insulated perfectly or has shifted a bit then the heat causes it to fail. Repeated heating also wears the insulation out and causes it to break down. For this reason the self cleaning features should be used sparingly.
Manufacturers want to please the customer so even though they know that this can create problems they also know that this feature sells more products. It is in your best interest to not even use this feature if possible.
If you have a oven that will not unlock after the cycle you have a few things you can try.
First make sure that you wait long enough before you try to open the oven. If it has not cooled completely it will not open. Do not run a clean cycle when you do not have the time to let it cool completely before you need it. Sometimes if you cycle the power to your oven off and then on again you can reset the oven and it will open. Turn off the breaker to your oven for a good minute or two before reapplying the power again.
If you are having problems with your appliance and need to buy parts, where do you go to find them and how is the best way to go about purchasing the parts that you need.
The best way that I have found to buy appliance parts online is to just do a search for ?appliance parts?. When you do that you will have a large number of different websites come up from your search.
You will then need to have the model number of your appliance handy. The make will usually be identified by the model number so just the model is usually sufficient. Sometimes a model number will not work in one site, so try a different site.
When the parts page comes up you usually will have access to ?exploded diagrams? which will help you to identify the part that you need. The pictures on some of the sites are better then others, so look around till you find what you need.
Once you know what you need, check out another site or two, or three. The price you get from one may be quite different from another. Also just because site A had the best price for one part, it may not have the best price for the next part you need. It seems that the different sites will use some parts to get you to buy and then soak you for another part.
Always compare prices with a number of sites to ensure the best pricing.
You can opt for faster shipping at most sites if you are willing to pay the extra costs. Most sites have warehouses in different parts of the country and can get the parts to you in a day or two, even with the regular shipping options.
Hope it helped..
