NEC Versa LX Notebook Questions & Answers
Trying to connect to internet cant find wireless & cant find a ethernet place either
The laptop in question does not have a place to plug in the ethernet cable. The laptop is not fitted with wi-fi or bluetooth adapters either. The best and cheapest way to connect this laptop to the internet is using a PCMCIA Card Adapter (type two or three as both are supported.) such as the product supplied by linksys. If yours is similar to the one in the photo then it should include a cable with the required network connection on the end. The "linksys" card you mentioned is no doubt the correct one, but minus the vital cable!
How do I boot from a usb on a nec versa lx laptop?
Go to the store and purchase a good copy of Windows XP and install it from a disk. In the BIOS you should have the option of booting from external devices as a alternative as well. This would mean USB or any plug and play drive. Make sure it is set to boot to this fist boot. Really I would just go and get a copy of Windows XP it should be relatively cheap now since there is no real support or at least it is dying out or has died for support updates. If you can purchase the original boot and software for your computer from the factory as well. I would also strongly suggest you take it in to the pro and have them do it less hassle for you if you have not done this a lot.

If that does not work you have two options.
1) remove all power and all batteries for about 15 minutes (there is a battery on the motherboard) and it should reset to blank.
2) if you can boot there are various bios hack programs to reset the bios but I would only do this as a last resort. I absolutely do not trust someone to hack the bios if I can avoid it. I’m happy to help further over the phone at
