universal code or how to program the 3-Device Universal Remote

i cannot program this remote to a sylvania tv

1. Make sure the device you are programming is turned off.
2. Press and hold CODE SEARCH.
3. Press and release TV, VCR, or CABLE corresponding to the device to be controlled. The indicator light will flash once to indicate the search is enabled.
4. Release CODESEARCH.
5. Press OFF/ON repeatedly until the device turns on.
6. Press CHANNEL V (channel down) for verification. DO NOT press any other buttons at this time.

If the channel changes on the device, the code is valid. Press ENTER to complete the search.

If the channel does not change, turn off the device (without attempting to use the remote). Then continue search by repeating steps 5-6. When all codes have been searched, the indicator light will flash twice and the remote will return to the normal mode.

Programming Your Universal Remote.

The remote may already be set up to operate your brand of TV, VCR, or Cable Box. It is pre-programmed with following codes:

• TV-000
• VCR-000
• Cable Box-000
• AUX is programmed with VCR code 037

For brands that require programming, there are two ways to program: Using Code Lists or Code Search. Use Code Search if the code lists are not available or if the codes from the lists do not operate a device.

Programming a Device using Code Search:

1. Manually turn ON your device (TV, VCR, Cable Box)
2. Press and "HOLD" CODE SEARCH
3. Press and release the device button you want to set up (TV, VCR, Cable Box) However, if you are using AUX for a device, press and release AUX first and then the device button for the type of device to be programmed (TV, VCR, or Cable). The selected device button will flash once.
4. Release CODE SEARCH.
5. Press OFF/ON repeatedly until the device turns off (you may have to press up to 100 times at a rate of once per second).
6. Once the device turns off, press and release ENTER.
7. With the device on, press any other button. If the device responds, no further programming is required. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 1-6.

Programming a device using the Code Lists:

1. Find codes for each device and brand below.
2. Press and "HOLD" CODE SEARCH.
3. Press and release the TV, VCR or Cable button you want to set up. If programming AUX for a device, press and release AUX first and then the device to be programmed (TV, VCR or Cable). When the selected device button flashes proceed to the next step.
4. Enter the three digit code from the TV, VCR or Cable Box code lists.
   
   
5. Release CODE SEARCH.
6. With the device on, press another button, for example CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 1-5 using another code number from the lists.

Assuming the Directtv system is Infrared and not UHF.... Try using the remote's "Code Search" feature.

Try getting into the tv menus with the menu button on the remote or the menu button on the tv. Find closed caption or CC and turn it off in the menus.

my tv is a sharp, i lose my instruction book, can you help me?

Hi bubba.

The keypad contacts in the remote will be contaminated I can talk you through fixing it. you will need

1. a med thin guitar plectrum(pic)
2. methylated spirits
3. lint free cloth(tea towel will do).

Now I will take you through opening and cleaning the remote keypad.

1. remove the batteries and clip om cover
2. slip the guitar pic under the edge of the remote.
3. run it around whilst gently levering the cases apart
4. it will open with some patient effort and then pretty much fall to pieces
5. clean the pcb/contact board with the cloth moistened with metho
6. clean the button silicon rubber contact pads.
   
7. be sure that no bits of lint or residue are left on either the pcb or the contact rubbers.
   
8. let dry for 15 mins to be sure no condensate moisture or metho is left on boards or button assly
   
9. reassemble by layering parts and clip together
10. reinsert batteries and test

This process will cure most dodgy button problems. If they are still not good, then a new rubber contact sheet may need to be fitted. In the case of universal remotes, cost will probably dictate buying a new one anyway. Good luck and go FixYa!!

Try to check the power supply output side where anything could came into contact with positive and negative line for which when you press play button then it shuts down.

RCA video cables handle analog signals. HDMI cables carry digital video signals. You need a converter. If you are using a component video converter, check if you swapped two of the three RCA video cables. (There are some A/V projectors that can do the translation of RCA and HDMI internally. Most TVs do not.) I hope this helps. Cindy Wells (One of my family's TVs used a dongle to condense the analog video signal to a single port, swapping blue and green gave a black and white output, IIRC.)

Most modern tv remotes are not normally designed to be repaired. You will possibly need to replace it. there are plenty of cheaper after market version that will do the job just as well. Your other option, and yes I know this is a silly answer, when you want to mute the TV is to simply press the volume down button to zero then turn it back up when you want sound.

You need the TV codes not the remote ones. I would use the Remotes code search feature as the Sanyo has allot of codes and you may spend hours going through them.
