its the Tuner rf gain voltage or AGC not set properly.

Without the OEM remote you can't access that video menu to change this aspect ratio. Have you looked on eBay for an OEM?

I have worked with some of these in the past that have lost the convergence memory. What a pain to reset. You would have to go to the factory settings with a code. This would allow a complete grid reset of convergence. I would NOT recommend that someone without electronic experience try this alone. This procedure is recommended only for service professionals.

You have an awesome antenna - every one should have one like it! An antenna that used to work with the older analog signals will work with the digital ones. What you have to remember is that analog systems though subject to ghosting, were brutes signal wise ala the metal on older cars. Digital signals are frail and even tree leaves in between the antenna and transmitter can have adverse effect on signal received. If the sound is weak on your set that is a function of your sets audio section. Somewhere you are losing gain and/or amplification. If you have an audio output you might consider hooking that up to one of the audio inputs on audio receiver. It will work fine and that is what I did with my unit.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Hi Buddy there are a few things that can cause this symptom but we need to go back and regroup . let's go at this from a technical stand point . when you plug the unit in and turn it on what do you see the led's in the area of the power button and pay close attention to the blinks if there are any . then we can try to get you on the right track . also id guess you already have the back of the set off ? if so on the large board on your left side looking at it from the rear of the unit . there are some caps that we should look at cp150 cp130 cp120 if i remember correctly . what your looking for is the bulged cap that some many hit on and true its a problem but if it hadn't been for caps failing they may never have fixed them . one word of caution is not to push the power button excessive at this point if there is a loss of deflection you may well damage one of the crt's or picture tubes this unit has a red crt blue and green and they provide the screen lighting and video you see . with you behind the set perhaps you could have some one push the power button and listen to that high voltage transformer on the left side board it has a red wire coming off of it . and be cautious there is possible shock hazard there . and if you have access to the caps i would change those caps right off the start as they are most likley defective as well as other possibility then let me know what you find and il see what i can do to assist you Tim

There is a button on the remote which should be labelled "Input" or "source". With the TV turned on, press the button and there should be a list of inputs. Scroll to the input labelled TV or Ant.

That tv is very old and it just reached its life expectancy. It could be repaired but it will cost you more than a brand new tv. Black Friday coming up and you will find a great deal.

are you on about the internal tuner DTV. as these are volt sensitive. you can replace the board but would check it is not getting to higher voltage than it needs. the silver cap capacitor dont blow the tops. and have to be checked with a meter. also check the the stabilizer on the board small square chip with 4 pins on them. make sure they are not leaking across. as this can cause voltage irregularities. and do damage to the voltage.

Make sure you re-adjust convergence in HD and non HD modes if your TV has HD

Need a solution

Make sure your convergence is working or at least going thru the motions faster than normal . what was causing that to happen to my tv was that i had my component stereo speakers surrounding my tv on both sides and directly on top of the tv.what you have to do is take all speakers away from the tv unplug and hold the power button for 30 sec to totally discharge power from your tv let it sit unplugged overnight or least 4hrs .after that plug it in and adjust with convergence menu.
