The cold control needs replacing. Thats the knob with the numbers that turn the Ref OFF and ON.
What I do is call my local Appliance Parts Store with my model no. They are extremely helpful .
Get freezer and ref thermometer. Ref is probably too cold.
Freezer should be 0 to 10 degrees. Ref 33 to 35

I have a maytag MZD2768geb

Hello,

Tested impedence on compressor, and got nearly 0 on all terminals. Short story - Replaced starter kit with another;if didn't work, take cover off to look at coils and found the compressor and fans were not on. Unplugged and replugged and if everything will started ok.
and if otherwise, Refrigerators have either a mechanical defrost timer, or an ADC (Adaptive Defrost Control). If your refrigerator has a mechanical timer, set the cold control to the coldest setting and then advance the defrost timer. You can manually advance the timer with a screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver into the advancement pinion and turn clockwise a 1/4 to 3/8's of a turn. If the compressor starts, replace the defrost timer. For further help, you'll want to call a professional appliance repair technician.

Sometimes you can hear a click-buzz-click sound coming from the compressor. This is the relay/overload at work. If you hear this, power is getting to the compressor. If you do, something is wrong with either the compressor or the compressor starting components. If you have a newer model with solid-state starting components, you may not hear anything at all. If there is power to the starting components, you may be able to test each part and replace any bad parts. There is also a 3-in-1 unit that may work on your model which replaces all the components in one unit. If the compressor still won't start, you have a bad compressor and need to replace it. If it does start, wire the 3-in-1 part in permanently. Make sure the one you buy is rated for the horsepower of your appliance.

If you don't hear anything, you can take the cover off the side of the compressor and test for voltage at the two leads. If no voltage is present, it's time to check the cold control. To test if the cold control is bad, you can temporarily jump the two wires at the cold control. If you get power to the compressor after doing so, the cold control needs to be replaced.

I hope this will help to solve the problem...

Side by side, model MZD2768GEW, water over flows

most of the time the fill line is out of alignment or the unit is not level and it is spilling over on one edge you can level it by loosening the screws that hold it mounted to the left side of the fridge. also make sure the water is not dripping after it turns off. Hope this helps and good luck.

Ice dispenser appearing to get stuck in the open

The noise is probably the solenoid which operates the door or the one that switches it from cube to crushed ice. Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} You'll have to look to see what's wrong.

Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying starting at the bottom going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components.
Here's a diagram of the dispenser which may help.

Ice builds up inside the freezer every few days at bottom

There are many reasons for this happening for example water leaking from a water supply line for the dispenser or ice maker, a crack in the defrost pan, water leaking inside and draining through the refrigerator cabinet, but most are cased by a defrost drain line blockage. Below is a link that may be helpful so try to take it all in and use the parts that most refer to your specific problem, Thanks Sea Breeze

Frige problem

This is almost a word for word common problem. On frost free fridge freezers of this type all cooling is generated through the freezer side and is merely forced into the fridge side through airflow. Therefore if you have a problem with the fridge you have a problem with the freezer section. The most likely cause is that the coil is frozen up. We would always suggest defrosting unit overnight in case it was simply a door left ajar being the cause of the fault. If the unit then pulls the fridge temp down and it was not the door ajar then you probably have a defrost problem (heater or defrost thermostat, or defrost timer). If it fails to pull the fridge temp down on restarting then it could be the fan or part of the defrost circuit or even possible the cooling circuit. The normal outcome after defrosting is that the temp will drop in the fridge due to air circulation improved, which will probably remain cool for 2-3 weeks until the coil becomes frozen again. On either result I would contact an engineer on the 2nd failure occurrs so that the engineer can establish the exact cause. Hope this helps.

Refrigerator won't cool. Freezer works fine!

Pierce, there was a service bullitin put out on this model. TDR-0010A-B. Had to do with normal freezer, warm fresh food compartment. Maytag issued a kit that included a new thermostat and damper assy. to solve this problem. Bullitin came out in 2002. If you are not having a defrost issue and all fans are running normal, I would call Maytag and inquire about the above posted bullitin, It may be covered. Catriver...post back.

How do you install maytag "mbb1954g" ice maker plastic water line connection to the freezer?

To connect the water supply using a plastic hose kit to the MBB1954G UNIT, you can follow these steps: Turn off the water supply valve under the sink. Remove the old hose from the water supply valve and the back of the refrigerator. Attach the new plastic hose to the water supply valve and the back of the refrigerator. Make sure the hose is not kinked or twisted. Tighten the fittings with an adjustable wrench. Turn on the water supply valve and check for leaks. Here is a video tutorial that demonstrates how to install a water line to an ice maker or refrigerator using a 5 foot hose with 1/4 inch compression fittings.
