this sounds like it may be just a resolution problem. Make sure your drivers are up to date and set the resolution to 1600 x 1200

change the inverter if it does not work ,you will have to change the backlight bulbs or you change the screen

Try the plugging the setup into a different monitor to eliminate the lead however it sounds like the monitors died. With cost of screens even if you can get hold of one you'll be better off getting a new monmitor.

Your monitor has a 3 year warranty through Samsung. The issues you are having indicate that your video control board in the monitor is beginning to have issues. You need to get an RMA to have it serviced before the warranty runs out.

The power supply inverter board usually ends up with one or two bad capacitors "sometimes puff at top" causing monitor not to power up.

This is a common problem with the Samsung 204B units that have been in service for a few years. Parts called capacitors in the power supply start failing and causing the board to not start correctly. The blinking power button is just the power supply restarting over and over. The monitor is easily repairable, you just need to replace the 5 capacitors that have failed. The Samsung 204B monitor have a know issue with failing power supplies that cause the exact problem you are having. At first they are a little slow to display a picture and the more you keep using it the longer it takes for the display to come on. The repair is simple if you can solder. Hello,

The 204B monitor have a known issue with power supplies that start failing and you get the "slow to show picture" problem just like you have. The monitor is very easy to repair and the parts are low cost. You will have to check out the rest of the circuits such as the MOSFETS and caps, fuse in the inverter circuits. No bad caps that you can see? Notes: bad caps can look normal,

Seems to be a problem with power / inverter board. Generally needs replacement of powerboard.

How long have you had the monitor. It sounds like a defective backlight. Usually when the circuit driver for the backlight starts to go bad, the monitor will blink. If this is the case, eventually the monitor will not turn on at all.

You can use a warm DAMP cloth with a little soapy water (washing up liquid). YOU MUST NOT DRIP ANY LIQUID so make sure it's well wrung out and don't apply excessive pressure or you will damage the screen.

Well I hope you can contact your friends at SAMSUNG and tell them to stop using CHEAPLY MADE LOW QUALITY caps in all their products. It has dying power supply.
Please look for bad caps with domed tops.

Sounds like the powersupply is faulty. If it used to work for a moment then the picture dissapeared, and then if you turned it off and back on, the picture returned for a moment.

That would indicate a power supply issue, in that case it would definitely be a bad electrolyte capacitor or two. In your case I'm not sure but its either the power board or then there is something more complex wrong on the smaller mainboard inside the lcd back cover.

Check the connector/cable between the logic board and the T-CON board on the LCD panel, also check the fuse on the T-CON board, it may not be receiving the 12/5vdc for for the VCC.
