Prostar 816

Here is a solution previously posted by consultel1 on the same problem. You should be able to fix your problem using the following instructions:

To change the ringing on a prostar 816 you first need to be at a display set (doesn't matter what the extension number is).
with the handset down enter #20 the screen should say MMC DISABLED
1) enter in 1 2 3 4 1 # (that enables programming)
2) enter in #62 the screen should say day ring assn
3) press the line you wish to program
4) press the buttons for the extensions that you wish to ring (the ones in the right next to the handset)
5) press # when finished with the line
6) repeat steps 2 through 5 for the remainder of the lines you wish to change
press #when finished.

Also make sure that the time and date is correct on all units.

If you need more help, post a comment or email me at [email protected] and I will continue to help you.

Thanks,

Tim

Some of the buttons don't work and the Hold function doesn't work

The Prostar 816 phone system can only use Prostar 816 phones. There is a rare larger Prostar system that can use other Prostar phones along with the 816 but typically was only installed in situations where more than 16 phones were needed. If you are looking at non-prostar phones like the Samsung DCS 12 then they certainly will not work.

Samsung 816 power outage dailing an outside line

First thing you should verify a dial tone on the fax machine. (use any analog phone)
If you have dial tone, press 9 and then a number
Second is it conected through tel. system? (did it have an internal extension) and there is no dial tone then your analog port may be fried. Call your telephone vendor. He should be able to help you.
You can purchase a manual for about 10 dollars
Email your system model number to sales at aaa-avad.com for further instructions

Phone "beeps" loudly when the handset is lifted.

The phone has its background music turned on. To turn it back off press the hold key while the handset is on-hook.

Samsung prostar 816 plus system ringing problem

sounds like your having a couple of problems at the same time. the lines only ringing at station 1 is the default setting of the system my guess is that the time and date are also way off if thats the case.
6) repeat steps 2 through 5 for the remainder of the lines you wish to change
press #when finished.

next, the problem with the cordless not working has to do with the port programming, in default it assigns all ports as multiline sets.
To assign a SLT(single line telephone) port to the system while still in program mode dial #38 the screen should say slt dial type and then 16 0's.
0 = keyset 1=slt set
enter in all 16 digits followed by the # i.e.if your cordless is on port 7 it would look like 0000001000000000 #
lastly the phone that can no lnger recieve calls sounds like the do not disturb or DND has been pressed to stop the alarm from ringing. press the mute/dnd button (light should be off). to cancel an alarm press the ALM/SD button twice and then the hold button.
hope that helps out.

enter in your hold recall time in sec. and in a 3 digit format. i.e. 30 seconds = 030 a minute and a half is 090 and so on.
press # when finished

it sounds like the memory battery on the main board is no longer working which means that it'll happen again.

Fowarding the Phones

The Prostar 816 wasn't capable of an external transfer of lines so its my guess that your using call forwarding through centrex to accomplish the job. i.e. *72 dial the number you wish to transfer to wait for an answer and hang up. *73 would be the disable code for call forward but is done by the line that originated the call. The only way i could see around that is to have ultra call forwarding on the line so it can be established and terminated remotely.
If i'm missing the mark please let me know

Date & time.

To reset system time you must be at the attendant station and with the handset cradled:
Dial: #06 4321 1 # (4321 is the default password)
Then:#55 YY, MM, DD, W, HH, MM, # time will be saved and phone will go back to normal operation.

Naming convention:
YY - Last two digits of the year
MM - Month (1-12)
DD - Day of month (1-31)
W - Day of Week (monday = 1.... sunday = 7)
HH - Hour (24hr format)
MM - Minutes (00-59)

ex: To set the time For Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at 8:31pm I would enter: 09 01 05 1 20 31 #

Good Luck,

Samsung Prostar 816 Phone System

By default, the password is 1234.
If you need to reset the default data:
Remove the front cover from the ksu. There is a memory on/off shunt switch toward the bottom right side of the pcb. (looks like a small wire hooked under another). Open that switch. If you need to use something to do this with make sure that it is non conductive.
Remove power briefly, return power to the system and the default data will replace all other data. Close the shunt switch and go about your programming. NOTE: you will loose all custom programming by doing this and unless you know the features you need and what they are called I would recommend you not reset the cabinet.

Good Luck,
BB

The battery is dead and will not maintain system programing after a power outage. If the battery is not replaced this problem will occur everytime the power goes out.

Caller ID?

No. I think the Prostar was mid 1990's manufacture. It was replaced with the 50si and DCS family. IIRC the 816 phone is not compatible or ugradable to any of the newer product.

Prostar 816 wont ring

Here is a link to a web page that gets into extreme detail about the problem you are having: http://www.p1bc.com/macrotel/macrotel_excel_mt16.htm#IMPORTANT
Your battery is dead inside and programming will be lost every time the power goes out. You should do something about the battery either way so it does not damage your system but you can get away with a UPS backup power supply.
You should look for a manual to re-program your system. It's worth the small expense if you plan on keeping this system for any length of time. There is a link on that web page I provided you to buy the manual. (top right side)
