My problem with TV sound very much like (bouvrem on Sep 09,) The TV is on, however on sound or picture. When I look for source I get slight change on screen (Goes from - I can notice the LCD panel is on as it goes from a "ligthed" black to completely black when I turn the set on and off. I can also notice a momentary difference in brightness when I press the source or menu button. Hooked TV directly to cable from Wall outlet - same issue. Please menu button on front of TV - on change. Thanks for any suggestions TV is 12.5 months old just over manufactures warranty
I had the same problem and I replaced the t-con board. My t.v. is fixed!!!! I just couldn't see spending another 700.00 dollars for a repair shop to fix it. The t-con board is located at the top of the t.v. once you remove the back cover. Be very careful removing the two plugs at the top of the board which was easy once I figured out how the clips worked. there is a black lever like connection which flips up, then grip with your fingers the tab and slide the tape like wires straight out. The bottom plug is very simple. Also to expose the t-con board you will have to remove a heat shield cover. Once removed there is foil looking tape that needs to be peeled back to expose the board. The board is very sensitive to static electricity so if you have a grounding strap that you can strap to your wrist and ground to the frame while performing your repair. Its best to lay the t.v. face down on the kitchen table with a blanket to protect the screen. Good luck!

I have a Samsung LCD LNR408DX/XAA that is approaching two years old in June. Recently when trying to power up the TV it would fail and not turn on. The TV would make a clicking sound as if it were about to turn on but would not turn on. On some occasions I could hit the power button several times, unplug the power cord and it would then turn on. Now however the TV will not power on and will continue to make a clicking sound about every minute or so. The red light that is on the power button on the TV will flash 4 times, I have heard that you are able to tell what is wrong with the TV by how many times this light flashes? Any suggestions, I am trying to avoid a costly repair? Thanks
I had the same problem with a 52" Samsung LCD. I found 2 electrolytic
caps with bulging tops on the power supply board. (see pic). I looked
to be the 5v section but I'm not sure. I got replacement at Fry's for
$1.90 each. All is well!

I have a samsung LCD
lns4692d, and the picture no longer comes up on the screen, i can go
through multiple sources get sound but no picture. Usually when you
change sources there will be a source name on the screen which does not
show up anymore. The LCD is backlight, and you can see when you change
channels or sources it flashes, but never a picture. Based on other
comments I have taken the back panel of the lcd tv, everyone else who
had this issues states this to be a issue with tcon (timing controll
board) /lcd controller board. Is this the same board where the audio video sources, antennae and cable plug into?

I have LNS4692D. Returned from vacation, turned tv on - no picture. Tried turning tv off for 4 hours- nothing. Symptoms are: tv is on - no picture , just sound; menu doesn't show, volume bar doesn't show;E.Saving is working - the backlight is changing from lighter to darker.
Found this website and ordered T-con, otherwise known as the LCD panel driver board, p/n# Bn8101286a ( thanks premtech) from partstore.com for $124. Part number BN81-01286A A/S T-CON Board.
Installation:
1.Remove plastic cover. There is an arrow for each screw that needs to be removed. Make sure to unscrew pins next to VGA port. I've spent some time trying to figure out what else is holding the plastic panel until I found this pins.
2. Remove big metal shield in the middle of tv that is covering main components. This shield is being held by small black screws all around it.
At this point you will see cover of T-CON. Here is the picture
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=118863&d=1220531321 (thanks ldac9). Do not attempt to remove that cover yet. Proceed with a next step
3.Remove metal panel that holds main components. Locate big chrome screws that have arrows pointing to them and unscrew them. Remove 2 more screws on the bottom of the panel that holds it together with a box for cables. At this point the main panel will be lose
4. Carefully start lifting the panel. You will see that there are connectors going from components on the panel to components on the lower panel and T-CON. Carefully unplug these components and raise the main panel.
5. Remove 4 screws that holds T-CON cover. Pull the cover so that T-CON is completely exposed. The cover is connected by thin alluminum , don't hesitate to pull it , but don't rip it out.
6. Once T-CON is exposed you will see 2 red ribbons. I've spent some time to figure out how unplug those from old T-CON board. Here is the suggestion. Don't try to pull it out. All you need to do is to lift small plastic lever that is part of a connector. Then ribbon can be slided out. If not sure what to do, see how this is done on the new T-CON. It has a principle of buckle on airplain safety belts.
7. Remove old T-CON and install new you.
8. Follow reverse order.
I've never fixed TV before , but this was totally successful project.

Hi
Can anyone giude me (pic, label, etc.) to the fuse on this board?
I've replaced the board and now want to repair the blown fuse. I have no idea how to find it. A tech did tell me the fusae was blown but I ddidn't look ar where it was. I feel there is very excessive heat coming out of the back of this series TV and couldn't that be the culpret behiond the failures of this this totally enclosed board?
thank you for any info.
Sincerely,
John Sullivan
The fuse is located just upper right to the connector that attaches to the main board. This is a SMD pico fuse that is rated for 3 A @ 32 V DC that protects the Vin bus. Replacing the fuse may not fix the problem as it has most probably opened because of failure of another component.

Is the pico fuse located near the T-CON board? How do you tell if is bad? Where do you get a replacement if it is?
Thanks
It's on the T-con board itself at location Cp1 which you will find printed on the board itself.. The fuse is a tiny s/m (surface mount fuse but you can use a pico fuse of same value. According to schematics it's a 1.5a fuse. Simply solder one across the s/m fuse and if it opens then change the board. Samsung p/n# Bn81-01286a
To test the fuse use a VU meter set to continuity.
Pico fuses are readily available at almost any electronics supply outlet. I get mine from ACME Sales in Florida (least expensive) but even your local Radio Shack might sell them...

I think you need to exchange the Main Board.

I have a 46" LCD Samsung TV Model# LN-S4692D I have no picture but I have audio. Picture just went out last night for no reason. I haven't had any problems with the TV till this point.
The back light inverter board may have gone out or it is not getting the 24vdc from the power supply module. Start checking for voltage feeding the inverter board.

I have a Samsung LNT4665FX/XAA version SX10 and isn't powering up. It's making a clicking sound for a half an hour and still no power. Can i troubleshoot this problem? How can it be fixed?
First of all stop trying to turn the tv on because you can damage a second board by repeatedly attempting to power the set up after a power supply failure. I have seen it on this model. Usually what happens to this set is the power supply filter capacitors fail. If you were to look at them you would see they are physically bulging. These capacitors are rated at 2200uf/10volts. They can be changed with a higher voltage capacitor to outlast the original components. If you choose to replace the entire power supply more than likely this will happen again in a few years. Anyone who can solder somewhat can replace these parts and repair the problem. A reasonable repair cost for this repair would be between 95-175 at a repair shop. Good luck, Russmann. You're welcome.

When I turn on,tv the picture flicks on then off this happen 2 to 3 times then there is no picture
It can be power supply due to bad caps, bad main board, shorted circuits in the backlights inverter board so the TV goes into shutdown mode. You will have to do in-depth troubleshooting, please read my guide first if you decide to DIY repair.
