Hi

Try and reset the player by inserting a pointed object inside the small hole, press and hold for 5-10 seconds to let the player reset. If this doesn't work then connect the player with the computer and let it charge for a while. Now go to control panel-> administrative tools-> computer management/system management-> storage, check if you are able to see the mp3 player here. If it is visible then try a reset and try again. If not then reset the player while it is connected with the system. This will resolve your issue.

This error is common with Windows Media Player

Here is the instruction:

1. Download the YP-U2J Updater
   
2. Remove Mp3 player if you already connected to the USB port
   
3. Run the program (You should see something like: Please connect the device)
4. Hold down the Play button and connect the Mp3 Player to USB port(Hold down the play button while you connect the device, you should seea message (normally after 8 seconds) like: Initializing on YP-U2J Updater program screen)
   
5. After you hear the Windows chime "new device found" or the message"Initializing" on YP-U2J Updater, you can now remove your hand fromplay button.
6. Check the Format Data Area checkbox (By clicking the yes button, you will lose all of your data in your Mp3 player)
   
7. Click the "yes" button
   
8. Finally, click on the Start button (takes less than a minute). DO NOT REMOVE YOUR DEVICE
   
9. IMPORTANT: After updating the firmware, you MUSTdisconnect the Mp3 player and turn it on. You will see a 20% messagefor about 50 seconds and it will be restarted automatically.

Update: Pleasekeep in mind that if you sync your Mp3 player with a computer that hasa Windows Media Player 9 or 10, you should do these steps again

i have an ipod and i dont know how to open it.

A firmware update. Same happens to my friend's unit yp-u2(x) a 512 mb model.

In XP OS.

1. Download and install firmware updater.(manufacturer's support site)just key in model number and type.

2. Run updater, press and hold play button until its been detected fully by the updater.

3. Check the format box(My friend's unit firmware ver is 1.xxx to 2.xxx something when updated).

4. Hit the update button or something like that. do not detached the unit until its done. Unmount the unit using unmount method "Safely remove hardware".

5. Turn on the unit it should pass the 20 percent mark. When its good it has no file yet coz of format option. Just load your song.

I think it happens when too much file is upload in the unit. 60 percent of its capacity may be enough.

your player iz need to a current updater progrrame by picking the firmware version of samsung site...and install to pc after then connect he player in usb dvice and re install the firmware....

Your player is need to format with fat file system not fat32 file system
just format to fat and re copy songs i hope the player show the songs ok ..............

first u check your dvice to connect your pc if the dvice is not shown on your pc so the problem is still that means your dvice is not working any where i mean you connect your pc or power on your dvice that means your dvise has need a current firmware. so go on samsung site and search your firmware by your dvice model download your current firmware and instal his setup to your pc after instal connect your mp3 on pc usb remember that b4 u connect the player is powerd off after u connect open the firmware setup thats u download the site and click to start button the firmware updater to look your dvice and update the firmware automatically thats it.

hmm i got the same problem as jenn1519 ill plug mine in and when i usually plug it in the computer makes a bing noise like it recognizes that its in the usb plug but 2 seconds later it will make the bong noise that i unplugged it which i didnt so i cant put any new music on. it will charge but it wont let me get any music on. and windows doesnt read that its in there.
and also my mp3 player is very important for me its a gift from a friend so plzz plzz help ? :(

Deleting Files,Pictures,etc from MP3 Player
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer" When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there. Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible. Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete" Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want. Reformat it again only this time as FAT system not FAT32.

Try to locate your files this way, it will show if there is any music/files on you MP3 player...

Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible if there is any on your MP3 player.

If you want to delete the songs or files you will do the following:

Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.

You don't need that actually. The computer will just recognized this as removable drive. Open up My Computer then plug the device on USB port, then it will pop up as removable/additional drive. Explore, then goto folder or file folder usually MUSIC folder or where you put the music files.

You can drag and drop MP3 files and delete it. Software dismount it and take off and you are ready to play it.

You should do firmware update. But you gonna need WINXP to run best the firmware. Go to Samsung site to download the firmware and the tutorial how to.

some of the files you deleted are probably the files that contain the installation settings, if thats the case you'll have to restore back to factory settings or download new settings online.

It runs greatly on XP OS I never tried it still on Vista.
