ITS audio probably comes from a Cable Box, so you could run the best digital audio available from the Cable Box directly to the Samsung. (Page 12) Likewise, the best TV-related video could skip the Samsung and go straight to the TV.

If the power cable is detachable, it should be a standard plug which is easy to find at goodwill, etc. or online. Very common cable for many home audio component. Probably look like figure eight. If not, you would have to open the unit.

Maybe you shoulkdjust look at it to see if it's clogged up with dust. The manual says to leave 4" of clearance around the fan opening.

You can buy a hdmi to rca female out convertor on ebay, you will also need rca cables red/white (audio) and yellow for video.
