How do you take music off your mp3 player

Hello,

The Sansa c140 can be operated in MSC and MTP mode for transferring and deleting music files.
See also setting USB mode for autodetect or MSC mode on page 16 of the manual: link to the Sansa c100 series manual.

  • For deleting files a connection to a computer has to be made in either MSC or MTP mode, see page 10 of the manual.

MSC mode means that a computer will see the player as a removable disk when connected.
It's like exploring the computer detecting the player as an external memory, showing up as a drive letter with about 1 GB of memory.
Before disconnecting the player, always safely remove hardware, the icon in the bottom taskbar on the right.

MTP mode means that a computer has software installed like Windows Media Player 10 and in this software, when started, the player is being recognized as Sansa c140.
Before disconnecting the player, wait for the message that it is allowed to disconnect the device.

How to use Windows Media Player 10 ? See the site of Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/10/using.aspx

SanDisk sansa c140

You need to Have Windows XP / SP2, Wndows Media Player 10 or higher in order for the device to be recognized. If you have these components, try changing the mode on the device to MSC Mode. Settings>Mode>MSC. Best of Luck.

How do i earase songs i hate off of my mp3?

Try this method to delete what you do not want.

Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio Books, etc. from MP3 Player
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal
Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on
"Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that
you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want,
release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now your mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
Be careful and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player.

I deleted audio files off

Well first hopefully you just deleted audio cause there are files on the audio device that are in hidden folders that can actually cause some devices to never work on a pc again. But i doubt thats the problem. I have worked on these devices many, many times. So lets start off with the basics.
Try a "hard reset".

Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to shut off.

With the device off, press and hold the vol + and the center select button.

Power it back on, see if that works
Let me know what happens from there. But now you should be able to plug it into a computer and get it to view it. From there we can try to see if we can repair it. Thanks Midwest-Tek
