Cannot locate modem access code

Hello anp1922,

I haven't used a Siemens SpeedStream Modem for some time now. My son replaced the modem we received from our internet provider when we first subscribed. We now use a NetGear Wireless Router. On the NetGear's, there's usually information that explains how to log in to the router such as a User Name and a Password.

Now on your Siemens SpeedStream Modem, it may not exactly be the same. I can't remember if the Siemens had the same setup and I'm sure you would have checked already by now. My guess is that you probably would need the software that came with the modem in the first place. A lot of times your internet provider, especially if it's DSL, will provide you with the router. I would call them and ask them for assistance. They can usually help you best. If you bought the IP Router yourself, then they won't help you and you're best to call the manufacturer. Hopefully Siemens doesn't ask you to pay for their service. You most likely will speak with someone in India who is in training.

I know I haven't completely answered your question but I am willing to help you out if you desire. GOOD LUCK.

In Bridge mod, it means that you have to configure a Broadband connection on your computer to be able to connect to the internet.

To use your router with the speedstream, the Trendnet must not be used in bridge mode. Configure it to be connected to internet, then plug the speedstream to it.

I was connecting my siemens

If you reset the router, you will likely need to go into the router's configuration through a wired connection and enable the wireless functionality of the router.

Please see the excerpt from the below website:

NOTE: The IP address in the example may differ than your actual IP

Please follow these steps to set up your a wireless network with your Siemens Speedstream 6520 Wireless Modem.

To create a wireless network you first need to enable the wireless functionality of the router. To do this you need to connect the router by an Ethernet cable to your computer. Once the wireless modem is plugged into your computer via Ethernet and turned on please follow these steps to enable the wireless functionality.

Open Internet Explorer or your preferred browser.
  1. In the address bar type 192.168.254.254 then press enter.
  2. This will bring up the main page for the Router.
  3. Once the start up page has loaded you will then need to login by clicking on the "Go" button in the top left of the window.
  4. This will bring up the Login page. Once the page has loaded please enter the username username and your password, then click "Log In".

Note: The default password is "admin", although this may have changed if you have changed the password.

Once this page has loaded click on "Home Network" and then click "Advanced".
Once the new page has loaded you will have a list of links, please click on the "Configure the Local Speedstream Gateway Wireless Network" link.
This will bring up a new page called "Wireless Summary".
Once this page has loaded place click on "Begin Wireless Wizard".
On the new page under where it says "Wireless Interface" please click "Enable".
Once you have changed the wireless interface to "Enable" please enter a name for your wireless network where it says SSID (e.g. "Home Office").
Then please click on the "Next" link.
On the new page, please change "Security Mode" to "WEP 64-bits" and click "Next".
This will bring up the "Wireless 64-Bit WEP Configuration" page.
On this page you will need to enter a passphrase to generate your WEP keys. We have used "icecream" but you can use anything. Once you have entered a phrase click "Generate Key".

This will generate four 64 Bit Key's. Please select any one of the four keys and click "Next".
Note: You will need the 64 Bit Key that you select in the future for devices to log on to the wireless network. Make sure you can remember your chose a passphrase that you will remember.
Once you have clicked "Next" a new page will load called "Wireless Filter Configuration". This is an advanced page for allowing access and denying access to certain computers or devices. We have set the "Wireless Filter" mode to "Disable".
Please click on the "Next" button to bring you to the "Wireless Options Configuration Page".
On this page pleas make sure that:
"Data Transfer Rate:" is set to "Auto"
"RTS/CTS Threshold:" is set to "2432"
"Fragmentation Threshold:" is set to "2346"
Once these setting are correct please click "Next" to bring up the "Wireless Wizard" page.
Once this page has loaded, you have finished enabling your wireless network so click "Finish".

This will bring up the "Wireless Summary" page again, but next to where it says "State" it should say "Enabled". Please ensure your settings are the same as the screen shot below ("SSID" and "Security Key Info" may be different").
If all these details are the same please click on the "Reboot" button to save the changes, and then once the new page loads click on "Reboot" to restart the router.
Once your modem has fully rebooted, please close your browser.
You are now able to unplug the Ethernet cable from the router and the computer.

How to connect other computers to your wireless network
On the computer you want to connect to the wireless network please follow these steps.
Once your browser is closed please click on the "Start" menu on the bottom of your screen, the click on "All Programs", hover over "Accessories", then hover over "Communications" and then click on "Network Connections".
Once "Network Connections" has opened under where it says "LAN or High-Speed Internet" please right click on "Wireless Network Connection" and then click "View Available Wireless Networks".
This should load the "Wireless Network Connection" window, and you should be able to see the wireless network you have set up.
Note: If there is nothing in your list you will need to click the "Refresh network list" button.

Once you see your network, make sure it is highlighted and then click "Connect".
Once you have clicked "Connect" it will ask you for your "Network Key". Please enter your 10 character key next to where it says "Network Key" and then retype the 10 character key where it says "Confirm Network Key".
Note: Your "Network Key" is the 64 Bit Key that you generated with a passphrase in step 16.
Once you have entered and confirmed your network key click on connect.

If everything is successful, the "Wireless Network Connections" window should say "Connected" next to your wireless network that you set up.
You should now be able to browse the internet.

I have A Vontage phone system using a Vontage

As long as the PS3 connects to the TV properly you can do this by creating or accessing a wireless network from the router, that your PS3 will receive the signal from and display on your TV. A gaming console will prompt you for a password to the wireless network you want to associate it with if you try to use any internet features on a game or interactive dvd. Sometimes this can be done on the consoles main menu screen before you attempt to connect through any media.
From a home computer you can view the options of your wireless network, in my case, a windows operating system - by click your start menu, opening control panel, and selecting network and sharing center. Here you can manage your networks and create homegroups or networks.
If there is a password on your router that you can't remember, I have had success in retrieving the number to customer service for the brand of my router - by calling my internet service provider. In your case you would want to contact Vontage if you don't have the password.
Hope this helps.

Internet speed go up to 2mb/sec but it go down

Sounds like you're being shaped to dialup speed (~50kb/s) when you have used all your download for the month. This is standard for DSL, at least here in Australia.

When the new billing month starts, your speed returns to normal.
