My laptop heats a lot and would just shut off

May we know for how long have you been using it?
This is the most probable cause. The vents are blocked with of dust. Usually this happens with several years of usage.
Usually there is a removable cover on the bottom side of laptops. Remove the screws and remove this cover at bottom. you will see a small fan like apparatus (it IS a fan but the blades are different). There will be copper tubes coming from the CPU etc to this fan. You have to remove the screws holding the fan and the copper tubes. Then remove the fan assembly with the tubes. Now clean the vent from the inside.
This will solve your problem.

On my vaio 5 r

With regard to your Vaio keyboard that some of the keys are not working, there are some possibility it is happening, 2 common things are the keys are defective or there might be some obstructions like dust, dirt or something that might be blocking the connection of the keys whenever you presses it. You can try cleaning the keyboard with a air can to blow anything that might be blocking it, however if that didnt work, most probably you will need to get a new keyboard replacement.

Try contacting Sony for replacement.

Am using toshiba satellite L505-10w

So your Toshiba laptop keyboard isn't working like it should? Whether your keyboard problem resulted from liquid spill, a hard bump, or you simply wore it out, you don't have to worry about investing in a new laptop, you can fix your keyboard problems with a simple swap. The good news is that fixing a Toshiba keyboard does not take much technical skill. In fact, Toshiba keyboards are among the easiest laptops to repair.

1.Remove the bezel just above the keyboard. You will notice a tin strip of plastic located just above the keyboard. This strip is called the keyboard bezel and you remove it by gently prying the edge up with your small standard screwdriver. Work your way across the bezel lifting it as you go. The bezel is a snap in unit so be sure to be gentle, as you work your way across.
2.Remove the keyboard screws. With the bezel removed, you will find three or four screws at the top of the keyboard. Using your small Philips head screw driver, remove these screws and place them in a safe spot where you will not lose them.
3.Remove the keyboard. With the screws removed, gently lift the keyboard from top to bottom. You will notice a ribbon of wires connected from the keyboard to the laptop. Lean the keyboard forward so that you can access the ribbon wire connection.
4.Remove the ribbon wire. Take your standard screw driver and gently push up the bracket locks on both sides of the ribbon wire socket. These bracket locks slide up slightly as you push to release the wire.
5.Plug in the replacement keyboard. Just as you removed the old keyboard, you will now push the ribbon wire from you replacement into the ribbon socket. With the small screw driver, push the brackets back into place to secure the ribbon.
6.Screw the replacement keyboard back into place. Using one screw, attach the keyboard. With the keyboard held into place by the single screw, start the computer and test the replacement keyboard. Once tested, replace the remaining screws.
7.Insert the bezel above the keyboard. With the keyboard now secured by all of the screws, place the bezel back over its opening and snap it back into place. Start at one end and work your way across.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya.com

Computer comes on no screen won't load windows

Before making any attempt to remove or replace any part inside the casing, ensure that the power is off.

Well, the first thing that might be causing this is your memory card (RAM). Try to remove it and place it in another memory slot on the motherboard.

To be sure if your motherboard is still in good working condition, remove the memory card and power on the PC.

You should hear continuous beep sounds.

If you hear this then your motherboard is fine.

If placing the memory card in another slot does not work then the problem lies with the memory card itself. You will need to replace it.

It could also be that some faulting PCI cards are causing this error.

Try to remove your PCI cards. Normally a faulting PCI modem causes this type of error. Remove it and then power on the pc.

The processor cannot be faulty but still if you want to check it, remove the CPU Cooler fan. Then turn on the PC.

Place your finger on the processor for 2 seconds. You should find the processor heating up. Then turn it off immediately. If this works then your processor is good.
Remember not to leave it ON for more than 5 secs.

Rotating plastic disc holding component

A computer technician may have an old drive with a good plastic rotating disk that will work in your drive. He/she would simply use an old drive to repair your drive. If that option is not available to you then a whole new CD/DVD drive needs to be installed.

Contact a laptop computer technician or a computer store.

Take care!

I have a Toshiba satelite

That sounds like a heat issue. Open the back panels and you will see the fan, turn on the laptop and see if the fan spins. If it does, its usually clogged. You will need to pull out the fan assembly and peel off the fluff that isn't visible on the end of the copper heatsink.

Once reassembled, the laptop may run much better. You can buy a laptop stand that assists the fans by blowing cool air inside.

You may find blowing out the dust with a can of air, or from an air hose or tyre inflater at your local garage.

click on the START ORB - RIGHT CLICK ON COMPUTER - GO TO PROPERTIES - CLICK ON DEVICE MANAGER.
anything not installed will have a exclamation point, just focus on that.
