COMPRESSOR DOES NOT WORK
Hello,
kkqawel, Probably.....your Compressor Start System has died. Many times a customer will advise you that they heard a 'clicking noise' every few minutes. Replace the Compressor Start System (CSS.) The CSS is located on the compressor and usually has a red wire and a white wire
(120 VAC) going to it. Hopes this helps!

Hello ,the freezer works good but we lost cooling
The problem could be caused from the main board not sending a signal to the damper, the damper could be stuck or broke or the thermistor may have failed.
Another possibility is if the return air is restricted. If this happens, the air flow will be very slow. A good way to determine if this is the problem is to feel the air flow coming out of the air diffuser and while checking it, open the freezer door or drawer. If the air flow increases with the freezer section open, the return air is restricted. If the air flow remains the same, the problem will be one of the above mentioned possibilities.

Bottom freezer working okay. Refrig not cooling.
COOLING Dust on the condenser coils can cause overheating, observe safety precautions then clean coils. Switch off the unit before you clean them. If the problem persists, test the compressor for overheating. Overheating will cause many problems with cooling ability. Leave the unit unplugged for 3 hours and plug it in again. If it starts working, the compressor is probably overheating (Observe cautions with food going bad). A simple cause of the problem might also be that there is not enough airflow Lack of airflow is the number one cause of compressor problems and thus an owner purchasing another unit for hundreds of dollars when you can fix it for free. There should be at least several inches distance between the sides and walls/cupboards/ceiling. Electrical There is an in-line fuse mounted in the line supplying the power to the ice-maker. It is in the wire clipped to the side, change out this fuse asap. It is actually a 20-amp fused, associated with the grounded electrical supply. PARTS You may order parts very cheap from here www.canadianappliance.ca/KBRS22KV.html TIME TO CHANGE YOUR FILTER While your on the back of the system, please check the filter. There is a filter in the back of the fridge in the upper right hand side. If you do not change it, it will slow down the frig and burn it out permanently.

My refrigerator is not working, but my freezer is
Usually there is a air flow problem from it not defrosting(all the evaporator coils are frosted up with moisture preventing air flow-defrost problem ) or the fan motor is not turning in the back of the freezer section above the evaporator....
All of the cooling in the top or refrigerator section is done by air flow circulating across the coils in the freezer to get temps down to 38 degrees or so. You have to listen for the fan running in the freezer section, feel for air at the top back of the refrigerator(the damper control) Sometimes a bi-metal thermostat in the defrost circuit is also used in series with the evaporator fan motor, if it is open the fan will not run........(this I have seen) Also check the vents for the return air to the freezer(behind the crispers are not covered accidentally) Hope this helps........

The fan seems to be running, but the compressor is
I just had a similiar problem, but I could hear a buzz and click noise each time the compressor tried to start. It was either the compressor siezed up ($700+ repair job) or the start capacitor/relay going bad. Since it was the cheapest place to start, I spent $32 buying a new relay/overload/start capacitor assembly at a local refrigeration parts store. Installed it in just a few minutes and the fridge fired right up. Sweet.....maytag no longer makes the part, but whirlpool offers a substitute..part number WPL-67005560 Good Luck.

The fan is running, the fridge trys to start the
That sounds like short
cycling and could be defective compressor start relay, overload and Capacitor need to be replaced. The longer it tries to start the hotter the compressor gets so I believe until these parts=> 67005560 Start Relay With Overload and Run Capacitor 65889-4 are checked or replaced you need to unplug. It also could be your compressor is not in good shape. If you would like to test your compressor follow these instructions here=> Whirlpool Products The location for these parts are here=> Maytag MFD2560HES and in photos part 10 and 11. I will assist you in any way if needed, Thanks, Sea BreezeMake sure both fans run at all times compressor runs because fans do not always stop when they go bad. They run when they want to.
