As the light grows, the pressure and temperature of the bulb also grows--increasing power demand. After a short while, the demand exceeds the ballast limit and the bulb extenguishes until the temperature (and pressure) drop again. Then, the cycle starts over. Bottom line: you need a new bulb (or, the correct bulb).

This is normally caused by a discrepancy between the computer screen resolution and the projector resolution. It could also be related to the computer screen resolution and the aspect ratio of the projector.

Could you please confirm what cable you're using to connect the computer to projector. Could you also please confirm the computer screen resolution and if the projector is set to Auto Source Select along with its Aspect Ratio.

It sounds like an internal problem. How long have you owned the projector? How long have you been experiencing this issue? Once I have more information I can assist you further.
