My viewsonic Va1912wb flashes horizontal

Hi There and Welcome to Fixya.

Horizontal or vertical lines flashing/running across the screen poses serious display issues with any LCD/CRT monitors. It only boils down to 2 possible causes :
  • Corrupted video driver
  • Hardware issue
To help you determine which of the above, here's what you need to do.
  • Ensure that the computer is turned OFF
  • Disconnect ALL USB devices except the keyboard
  • Turn the computer on and immediately hit "DEL" (in some systems, it's the "F2") key repeatedly until you reach a different screen. (not the usual Windows screen)
  • Welcome to the BIOS screen
  • From here, spend 30min to 1 hour observing if the lines are present in this mode
If you still see the horizontal lines, then there's a need for the monitor to be serviced by a certified/trained technician. The link below will direct you to their support page for repair/replacement options, depending on your warranty status :

ViewSonic Support

Otherwise, the problem can be resolved by re-installing the operating system.

I hope this helps, Thanks for using Fixya.

How do I adjust the screen tilt and

Hi, Here is what I was able to find out about your monitor from ViewSonic. There is no manual available on their website.
I have two ViewSonic monitors that are very similar to the one you have.
Here is what I can tell you. The monitor, although it does not seem like it can, be tilted front to back.
If you grip the monitor screen on the side edges (left and right) and 1/3rd the way up and twist it either away or toward you, it should tilt. It is a little stiff, just go ahead and tilt it. As far as adjusting the high. That, I'm sorry to say cannot be done.
I hope this helps you.
Best Regards,
Mark

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). More likely to have bad DC filter caps with leaking/bulging tops just like the failed VIEWSONIC as shown in my albums.
