After listening to the whining for a few seconds I realized that the sound was coming from the power supply inside.(because of where the plug was in the back of it.
I opened the case and did a visual inspection of the power supply board. It's not closed in a box or anything. The whole outfit inside is really simple and easy to work on.
I checked the fuse and I could see that it was still good.
Then I noticed that 4 of the main capacitors were swelling on the top and looked like they were about to pop. I know this because I've had this problem on several motherboards on different computers.
I also know something about capacitors.
Anyway, On mine there were 2 -> 2200 Micro Farads 10v and 2 -> 1000 uf 10v that were bad. Yours might be a different set.
I un-soldered them and replaced them with good capacitors.
I got mine off of some old motherboards and power supplies that I had lying around.
You can usually buy them at your local radio shack, electronics hobby shop, or just order them online.
My player is working like it is brand new and the best part was I only gave $2 for it at a thrift store.
I guess someone got rid of it by dumping it on a thrift store.

from my experience, I think your player is having a power problem. It must have received excess voltage/irregular power supply which has damaged an IC or capacitor on the power board of the player.

Sometimes this excess power supply might damage the player's main board. This is why it is advice able that you use step down for your player, because DVD player don't need excess power as something might be damaged.

To solve this problem, you will be needing a meter. Open the player, use the meter to read the components on the power board as it will help you discover the component that got damaged and you can then replace the bad component.

But if you do not have the knowledge of fixing this problem, you might be needing the help of a service technician.

Lazer Tracking may have something stuck in the gear

You either have a belt or gear slipping, a bad motor, or a disk that is stuck. You can take the cover off and make sure a disc isn't jamed and inspect that the motor is trying to turn. I know that most recorders won't let you open the tray when it is recording. It's a long shot, but you can also try unplugging the power chord and plug back in and see if that will reset it. Does try to open at all? does it make a sound like it's going to open?

Sounds like a hardware problem.
This is typical when one one of the DVD mechanism (motor fails, laser can't track, etc).

Although you can try some sort of DVD cleaning disk, or better yet
if mechanically inclined you can open it up and clean the DVD head and motor mechanisms manually.
Search here, or on the web on the steps to open up and clean them.

If it's still under warranty, call manufacture technical or customer support for a possible replacement.

Try this. You will need 2 RF cables and a RCA cable that has a red, black, and yellow plug on each end.

1. Plug the antenna signal into the converter box.
2. Connect the RF output (TV out) of the converter box to the RF input on the VCR
   
3. Connect the RF output (TV out) on the VCR to the TV
   
4. Finally, plug the DVD recorder into the converter box also, but use the 3 RCA cables that came with it (audio left, right and video).

Tray is out of alignment or belt drive is shot.Knock on top of cabinet with knuckles while pressing open button it will open the disc tray door 98% of time.While disc tray door is open you will see a tiny pulley to the right,this belt is probably too worn out to open the door properly.Uses 1.9 size belt.You can remove and replace with twizzers.Make sure new belt is in the tracks or tray won't move.

Push the source button on ilo Remote.The front RCA plugs AV1 the rear is AV2 of ilo.
If you still don't see dvd you are not wired correctly.

I'm still confused. Walmart has this with pictures. This DVD player has regular RF Coaxial TV output and input. But, the best way to connect it would be Video Out and Audio Out for the connection from the DVD Player to the TV. I guess it has a tuner in it? or else why would it have a TV input on a DVD player?

Specifically the Pr, Pb, and Y connectors and the Red and White - Left and Right Audio Out connectors.

That would give you the best audio and video to most modern TV for last couple of years. (I don't see HDMI but that would be even better if it had that.)

So does your TV not have Component Video (Pr Pb Y) inputs? And Audio Left/Right inputs?

If not then you are connecting Coaxial Cable RF input to your tv? The TV would have to be in TV mode in this case and on the correct channel ... I would imagin Channel 3 or 4 of the old NTSC style TV channels. Most TV's still do those - even with the new Digital TV channels being active.

I have a DVDRo4 model so they may not be the same. I connect 3 wire RCA cables to the DVDR output and to TV 3wire RCA input. I set the TV chan to Aux. I set the DVDR souce button to disc. Hope this works on you unit 05

You received it in 2004 and you just got it out of the box now????

You cannot get the dvd door to open ... but you ummm want to program it? I think you're on your way to the dvd repair shop. Or buy a new one.
